Made it back from Gen Con this afternoon. (I almost typed #gencon. Thank twitter.) This was, hands down, one of my favorite Gen Cons. I made new writer friends and reconnected with old ones. My panels turned out well, and people that I didn't know actually came to my reading. I got lots of exercise in terms of walking, bought lots of cool stuff in terms of geek merchandise (
Shlock Mercenary magnets among them), and averaged six hours of sleep a night. While I didn't try out any new games, I played
Word on the Street with a bunch of writers, and let me tell ya, playing word games with writers is frickin' hysterical. I watched R. A. Salvatore, Larry Elmore, and Ed Greenwood play an encounter in a celebrity D&D match.
Oh, and I met the cast of
The Guild. While I didn't get any pictures with them, I chatted briefly with four of the cast members, and they are all lovely and gracious in person. I tried to play it cool but I was fangirling on the inside.
I also met
Wil Wheaton. It's official: he's the coolest geek ever. He graciously accepted my blather about loving his work, starting a blog because he inspired me to do so, and appreciating his writing posts because I'm a writer too. Once again my inner fangirl went "squee."
