Back home.

After going to Taiwan to visit my aunt and for the September hols, I returned on the seventh after a full week there!

I visited the tallest building in the world, ate smelly tofu (well, watched my mom eat some...), enjoyed shopping the night market in shilin for two nights consecutively... went to Danshui, a riverside night market, ate lots of grilled squid, tempura mushrooms of all kinds, deep fried chicken with chilli powder and discovered the miraculous condiment that is pepper salt. The whole trip was like a gourmet tour, really... The dumplings or Xiao Long Bao was really yummy too, steamed and it had soup inside... cool!

I also went on a coastal drive past the bay of two colours? called something like that anyways, cause it had two different colours of water in it! Talk about an obvious name...

Then we drove up a mountain to visit a mountain street market called Jiou Fen?, where I bought Mochi (an obvious side effect from the area's proximity to Okinawa, Japan), floral tea at really cheap prices: 4.5 Singapore dollars a bag... a cool necklace and preserved fruits... Took a ton of photos and the view was really spectacular!

We also saw lots of ancient sedimentary rock formations on the drive, we stopped by one and I snagged a piece for a souvenir...

The day after, we visited the sulfur hot springs near my aunt's house.

Bad idea...

I and the rest of the family got these bumps all over the skin like mosquito bites... They eventually became filled with this clear discharge and left scars all over my skin... I'm hoping they'll eventually fade... They lasted a whole two weeks after I got back home and I couldn't sleep from the itch on several nights...

The most productive shopping I did was at this wholesale market where I bought clothes by the bag full...

I record: three jackets, one dress, five tops...

Yep... I feel accomplished...

I went jig saw puzzle shopping and there was this departmental store with really nice ones, that cost a bomb...

My aunt bought me, like, four...

THANK YOU!!!

I also went to the Jade market. It looks like a flea market and all the stall's items are on wooden tables, The whole market is under this highway bridge and it goes on for a long long long distance... There are three sections to it, I started from the jewelry side where they were precious and semi-precious stone, the whole place was sparkly! There were these jade bits that were perfect for earrings so I got a few... Then I got this leather cord for a pendant I was planning to make. Then I saw this stall that had large pieces of colourful teardrop shaped rocks that were really pretty. My aunts paid for two pieces I chose, one had this cool scenery on it like a tree and a fallen log and the other was this nice blue smaller piece. It's hard to believe the pieces were natural pieces of stone when it looked like a painting...

Then there was this gardening section, there was so much greenery the air felt cooler by several degrees...
The place sold seeds, fertiliser, gardening tools, pots, decorative stuff to put on plants, water plants, bonsai trees, orchids, homemade compost, everything and anything to do with plants...

Last section was an art and craft place, they sold like hand made glass figures, twisted straw insects, paintings, paintings on fans and even paintings on ostrich eggs... I had my portrait done!

So that about summed up my trip.

Did I mention my mom booked us a flight back at 6 am? So, no sleep... yeah...

I spent the 7th of sept, my birthday on a plane. Yay!

Oh well...

Just now writing this cause I was lazy to... ha...
