I finished up my crazy travel days in North Carolina and I am finally done with all of my residency interviews! Ten out of eleven of which I will most likely rank.
Speaking of ranking... yesterday I received an email from the NRMP organization informing me that
"The 2006 Main Residency Match ranking function opens for applicants and programs in the NRMP's Registration, Ranking, and Results (R3) System on January 15, 2006 at 12 noon eastern time..."
Rank order list entry begins tomorrow!! I know I am not the only one who feels that this has all happened far too quickly.
The world is moving too fast again.
The good news:
"Final rank order lists must be entered and certified by 9:00 PM eastern time on Wednesday, February 22nd, the rank order list and final registration deadline."
This means I still have more that a month to ponder, calculate, extrapolate, and agonize over which program is meant to be #1... and the entire rest of the order of my rank list! This is going to be one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make.

Tonight is the Ladies Figure Skating National Championships!! Unfortunately, Michelle Kwan isn't competing, definitely a favorite.
I have loved ice skating since I could walk and started skating when I was four. In another life my dream would have been to train and go to the Olympics. As a child I had the '88 Olympics taped on VHS that I would watch over and over again, with Brian Boitano and Katarina Witt. I don't think I've missed watching the winter olympics figure skating events ever since!

Less than three months left in my medical education is truly unreal. I'm doing some research this month on screening cholesterol levels in adolescents and the associated preventive health guidelines. Should be relatively simple, but I need to get working on it!
Next month I go back to the real world of medicine in senior surgery, and I'll round out my training with a month in radiology, aka radi-holiday. Nice.

More later.
