i feel a little proud of myself today. I had a renal study (for the non-vascular readers: a long, difficult, tedious study) this morning. I am very inexperienced when it comes to these studies, but did one this morning in an hour and some change.
Good job self! And on a Dr. Wolf day, wow!
Other work related gripe:
yesterday was the first time i've ever wanted to punch a doctor...or at least give him the stinkeye to make him shut up. I was doing a study, and the patient had a very high grade blockage in one of the arteries that feeds her brain. Doctor Wengrovitz poked in to see where i was on the patient, and i'd JUST found the blockage. He looked at my numbers and said, "that's 80-99%, right?"
"yes, sir." I replied.
This is not the type of thing a patient wants to hear. OBVIOUSLY. Now, i still had the rest of the study to finish and the patient was pretty obviously stressed about the situation. I love the fact that Dr. Wengrovitz can be as blunt as he is, but damn if that didn't mess up the rest of the study for me. I fricken hate seeing patients get teary-eyed cause they're worried about their health.
It makes me feel bad.
Luckily, they got her scheduled to have the surgery today. She must be recuperating just fine right about now. Very routine procedure, and our docs are kick ass.
