Dad.

It's a long weekend by virtue of Labour Day. I had little planned because weekends are sometimes nice without plans. The gym looked almost deserted with most presumably away over the 3-day break. Anyway there I was, on my usual routine when mom called and said dad met with an accident and is in KTP hospital. I was stunned, but calm (might have been mom's unusually non-flustered voice).

As it turned out, dad was crossing the road (jay-walking I believe) when an oncoming car came at him. Fortunately it wasn't serious. Nonetheless, dad fell and sustained abrasions on his left wrist, both elbows and knees. We later learned that the driver is a police officer. He hurried my dad to KTP and stayed with him throughout. The hospital had rang me but as I had mine on silent they contacted my sister, who made the trip and fetched my dad home. X-rays showed no abnormalities so dad was discharged after given dressings and some meds.

And so I became dad's part-time nurse over the few days, whose responsibilities include giving assisted showers and dressing change. Speaking of dressings, I have Google to thank for the instantly needed skills, even though my first attempt looked awkward. Pretty amazing what the worldwide web can do.

Anyway, it's a relief dad escaped with minor injuries. He should be good in a couple more days. Oh, and my dressing looks a lot better today :)
