Alrighty... I wanted to explain Vappu!

Ok, so Vappu is celebrated on May 1st, so on May Day for us, I think lol. And its like, Labor Day. But, its a really big deal here. This is the day that all graduates really celebrate finishing school, and also, anyone who has ever graduated school celebrates! Its so awesome. Everyone that has graduated

The overalls are actually different for each department or branch of study. So for example I study industrial management, so these are my overalls, but the same university has a lot of other departments also, so computer science has black overalls, mechanical engineering pink, electrical engineering white, automation and system technologies purple, and so on. Naturally, there are so many different departments in different universities and only so many colors, so they overlap a bit, but to my knowledge, we're the only ones with rainbow stripes. ;)

The overalls used to be for only universities of technology that taught Masters and Doctors degrees (like the one I'm from), but nowadays, all universities and also ammattikorkeakoulu (the ones that are not quite universities but produce Bachelors) have them.

I also loved Wappu. We held a picnic on May 1st at Ullanlinnanmäki, along with a couple thousand other people. ;)
