(no subject)

So, it is officially BEAUTIFUL here now! Oh my gosh, I love it so much. It's not all too warm yet, it tries to get to 50 but never quite gets there. But, all week it has been completely sunny, no clouds. I'm in such a better mood now, its unbelievable. It was just dark here for so long, all throughout winter, that the sunlight is a much needed gift. And with the daylight savings time, its still light out even at 8:30 pm! Oh, its just so nice. And since summer is coming, it will start to be light A LOT more during the day. They say that Finland, well, mostly Lapland, is the land of the midnight sun because there's only a few hours of darkness during the summer. And, on June 22 (I think...) it's Midsummer... and the sun doesn't set at all! There are of course lots of parties and stuff.... but I'm so excited to experiencing a day where the sun doesn't set! It's so crazy... :-)
Last Friday I went to Helsinki to hang out with a couple friends. We had a really nice time. We just walked around the city, and that was so nice. And then we found a sushi place and, boy was it good. I hadn't has sushi in such a long time, so it was super good. And then we just went back to my friend's house and hung out and watched a movie. The next morning my friend and I just walked around Helsinki a bit and whent to this big mall thing (my host mom has her office there too) called Kampi and walked around there. I bought a belt lol. And then I headed home because I was tired and didn't want to be home late. Then Sunday I just had ballet and Erna and I rode our bikes over the Stella's later in the day and we watched a movie. And this week I have done practically nothing because it's exam week. I had one english exam on Tuesday, and yesterday and today I didn't have school. And tomorrow morning I just have to write a couple essays for my other English class... Oh, and I have a Finnish test tomorrow evening.... but, yeah. I've been pretty bored, so I've vaccumed my whole house and ironed like crazy. But I really want to help my host mom out right now. My youngest host sister, Erika, was diagnosed with diabetes on Monday and she's been in the hospital all week, and my host mom has been there with her. Erika can come home Saturday for the weekend to see how she does, but then she has to go back. Hopefully she can come home for good on Tuesday. I miss her :-(. She's such a funny girl. It'll be tough to live with diabetes, but she's a great girl, so she'll do fine.
So, here are just a couple pictures from Helsinki this weekend... I will have many more after next week because MY MOM WILL BE HERE!!!!!!!! And, happy Spring Break to everyone in the states!!! I think this is the first spring break I haven't been on a beach somewhere... it kind of makes me sad, haha.
