So this is the current project I'm attempting in my animation class. Essentially, take a natural phenomenon and attempt to mimic it.
I'm doing a time lapse of a mushroom after some thought (and finding a
kick ass video of exactly what I wanted) and my professor (to somewhat of my own surprised) loved the idea. The fun part is, not only is it a time lapse, but I'm going to try and mimic it exactly. With the shifting camera, things appearing on screen for a frame then leaving again sort of thing.
We also had to do a storyboard, so here's mine:
I did all drawings and colorings.
Modeling the toy truck took far longer than I liked (Damn UV mapping) but rather satisfied with how it came out. The baseball was simple, and now my next challenge is to displacement map the mushroom correctly so I get the natural feel of the barnacles. Choosing this over straight modeling the barnacles for a couple reasons. One, less memory and precious space and time used on polygoning it out. Also, never used displacement maps before, and it's worth learning.
Here's a very low stage render image of the actual scene, sans the actual mushroom:
Here's what it looks like currently in Maya. Huzzah for dual screens in the Labs/Dungeon:
Will likely be working on this more over the course of the weekend.
Sorry for a lot of Maya jargon. If anyone wants anything explained, just let me know.
