gosh i love jason mraz.
so 6 days before this landmark election and a few thoughts, more to clear my head than anything:
1. i know more about what mccain is against than what he stands for.
2. coming from an overworked/underpaid family, i KNOW obama's proposals would help the people i love and care about more than anyone else.
-it scares me more than anything to hear "i think i might have skin cancer" and, upon an
plea to go to the doctor, "well...i don't have insurance so.... i'll just wait it out."
-rich people ARE the whiniest people i have ever met. ohmygod. 3 cents out of each dollar.
GROW UP! single mothers with 3 jobs are the hardest working people i know-- NOT
DOCTORS/LAWYERS/LAWMAKERS
-ok, maybe students paying their way through college are right up there with the moms.
3. america is resistant to change. utopian ideas are at LOT easier said than done... especially in a stubborn society.
4. how did the corporate bailout/stimulus checks actually help us?
-like jon stewart said, "our own money?! we already know we can't be trusted with our
money!"
-won't we have to pay this back when taxes roll around next year?
-if we're so in debt, where the heck did all this money come from???
5. it takes a lot of work to be rated more liberal than ted kennedy... especially in just 2 terms.
6. it really worries me that mccain wants to cut educational funding.
-look at the facts. we have more money than any other civilized country, and yet our
students rank lower than SO MANY.
-haha! speaking of irony, isn't it funny that so many "abstinence only" states top the
STD/teen pregnancy charts?! yea alabama!
7. i am concerned about how radical some of obama's mentors are.
8. by the same token, i'm concerned about how much mccain (who is essentially the republican party's mentor) has lied to his family. i.e. affairs...
-although, most dems will be quick to point out how a bad husband doesn't equal a bad
president -- at least where bill clinton or jfk are concerned.
9. i'm worried about the fact that one candidate has no international/military experience, and the other has admitted to needing help when it comes to economics.
-like it or not, we are at war AND in an economic crisis
10.i had more to write down, but now i can't focus.. which means i can't remember.
i don't know. there's just so much at stake right now. you put it down on paper, and it seems like such an obvious choice. yet, being the libra that i am, i still can't decide.
