Wing!fic Cheat Sheet

Nov 15, 2007 14:02

Posted mainly for me, because as the fic world expands and becomes more complex, I'm finding myself having to refer back to stories more and more often to check things. Feel free to read if you are interested in the world or if the myth arc is started to be confusing...

I'll be updating this as new stories are added. This will become my main point of reference.

**The isn't complete**

~ The Story So Far ~

Little Sammy Winchester at the age of ten starts growing wings. He tries to hide this fact, attempting to saw them off himself but Dean catches him and despite his better judgement, helps Sammy conceal the wings from their father and the world until four years later when their father finds them in the middle of cutting the wings off after a long spate on the road.

John makes the boys promise that they will stop mutilating Sam, if he's meant to have wings then that's just the way he is. A harness Dean constructs works for a while, but as Sam grows, the wings become unconcealable. Without Dean knowing, John assists Sam to find someone that can remove them safely.

Along with the wings, any memory Sam had of having them is gone as a result and Dean must carry the knowledge alone.

Years later, after the death of Sam's girlfriend Jessica and while the boys are hunting for their father, a Rawhead throws Sam off a roof and Dean, who knows the mere mention of the wings will reverse the spell that has removed them, calls down to Sam as he is falling, saving his life.

The boys settle in a small town called Sanctuary at a farm once owned by Jim Murphy. Sam once again pursues a way to hide his wings from the world and they come back into contact with Edgar Casen who has his own reasons for helping Sam. He gives Sam a glamour knot, magic that will mean only Sam and Dean are aware of the wings and Sam can move about the town normally.

Edgar Casen finally reveals himself as a man looking to trade Sam for a few favours down below and he is killed when he tries to take Dean out. Sam is left with a spotty memory and no way to hide the wings. The townsfolk, strangely enough, don't seem to mind as is discovered when a man named Freddy Guire offers Dean work at a local garage and reveals that he is well aware of Sam's afflication as are most of the residents.

The boys continue to hunt, using Sanctuary as their home base of sorts and run afoul of a witch with a grudge, a sorceror with an agenda and hunters who are looking to make some quick cash.

They also discover that Jim Murphy may have been concealing something about Dean, which may lead to uncovering just why Sam was born the way he was.

~ A Little Town Called Sanctuary ~

Sanctuary is a little, one bar town on the outskirts of nowhere. It resides where roads cross and people need to lay down their burdens. The townsfolk are a strange mix of Americana, accepting of the unusual.

Jim Murphy's farm is a rambling run-down place on the outer edge of town, about twenty minutes by car (Or ten as Sam flies). There is running water but the power is a little finicky because it looks as if Jim might've done the wiring himself. The boys first learn of Jim's farm when their father takes them to it in between jobs when Sam is fourteen.

~ Characters ~

- Residents of Sanctuary -

Freddy Guire
-> First appeared in - The Air In Between
-> Currently - Missing

Freddy Guire owns the garage where Dean works. He was the first Sanctuary resident to get to know the boys and has only recently left town after a curse caused him to badly beat his wife.

Freddy was heading back to his office when he paused, looking at Dean over his shoulder. “Your brother’s about six foot five, right? Wing span about the same? You can spot him from miles away when he’s up high enough. Just something to think about.”

Melinda Guire
-> First appeared in - Feather Weight
-> Currently - In Sanctuary

Melinda Guire is the local veterinarian and Freddy's wife. She has taken on the task of taking care of the boys, especially Sam since with his wings, he can't exactly go to a hospital. She attended MIT before deciding to change career paths.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” she says and Dean looks at her, wondering where she would have seen anything like Sam before, let alone his miraculous malting act when he remembers she’s a vet. He wonders if some deep-rooted part of his mind made the connection when he dialled his phone on auto-pilot, knowing that a doctor probably wouldn’t be able to do anything but a vet… someone who treated birds just might. “Has this ever happened before?”

Annabelle Thompson
First Appeared in - Feather Weight
Currently - Residing in Sanctuary

Annabelle Thompson owns the closest farm to the Murphy place and keeps the brothers in supplied in groceries in return for Dean working on her Buick. Annabelle has two kids, Danny and Clara.

Hell Hound, in puppy enthusiasm, knocks Clara over and she starts to cry. Annabelle makes a small sound of dismay and dashes to her daughter, already scooped aloft by Sam, tears forgotten as he holds the small girl over his head.

Kelly Peters - Created by poisontaster
First appeared in - Bone and Sky
Currently - Resides in Sanctuary

Kelly Peters has a husband currently serving overseas in the military so Dean and Sam have both taken it upon themselves to do odd jobs around the house. She is mother to a daughter, Jeanie.

"Oh, it wouldn't be that hard," Kelly said without thinking. "If he was sitting up, or-even better-if you were in a chair, you could…" She broke off when she realized Karen and Fay were staring. Her face bloomed with heat. It was possible she'd spent entirely too much time thinking about naked Sam Winchester. "What?"

- Bad Guys -

Edgar Casen
First appeared in - Forgetting To Fall
Currently - Deceased

Edgar Casen was a man playing with fire. He had made deals upon deals for power. The only way to ensure he served eternity in the pit in a little style was to bring Sam Winchester low, corrupt him to serve Edgar's own purpose. John unknowingly brought Edgar into their lives initially as a way to give Sam a normal life. He is the reason Sam has partial amnesia and almost succeeded in killing both younger Winchesters.

“I’m protected,” Casen says, turning and pulling his collar aside to show the ritual scars. He has made deals upon deals upon deals to get where he is, a teetering house of cards with the bottom card being his soul. He still has a grip on it, no matter how tenuous and he is not about to let some lower being just waltz in and take it.

Dashmael
First appeared in - The Bad Guy
Currently - Unknown

Dashmael is a demon whose intentions are not yet clear. He approached Casen when the man was dealing with Sam and Dean to make it clear that Casen had no idea what he is dealing with. It is as yet unknown if Dashmael's target for his plans is Sam... or Dean.

A shadow uncurls itself from his living room and resolves into the form of a young man with black hair and dark blue eyes. His features are almost sharp enough to cut and when he smiles, Casen fights the urge to turn away.

- Hunters -

Sid and Barney Edgemont
First appeared in - Hunter's Moon
Currently - Unknown but likely running for their lives.

Sid and Barney were a couple of hunters that at first mistook Sam for a gargoyle and captured him. They were going to return him to Dean and Bobby when they discovered their mistake, but finding that the gargoyle had been taken out by someone else, they changed their minds and tried to pass Sam off to their respective buyer. It turns out this wasn't the first time they'd improvised.

“Holy… we did not shoot down a goddamn angel… did we?” Barney yipped, panic tinging his tone. Sid turned a raised eyebrow on him.

“You wanna blaspheme a little more, just in case?” he invited, smacking Barney upside his head.
