Happy Birthday, Bun!
Today (Thursday, May 25th) is Andrew's 21st birthday. He gets to celebrate by being in Massachusetts without me and going to the orthodontist. What fun! When he gets back I really want to celebrate by going out for Japanese food and getting sake (he's not much of a drinker and we don't really have anyone to go out to bars with anyway), but we're pretty broke so I don't expect that will be happening. I haven't really had any good sushi at all lately, which is very sad. I miss Bayridge Sushi in Longwood and The Blue Anchor in Hyannis. There are tons of Japanese places in Orlando, but I don't have the transportation or money.
Anyway, I hope we can do something fun when Andrew gets back from MA, even if it's just getting up early enough to spend a day downtown and go to the library and then come home and watch hours of Six Feet Under.
Wednesday evening Hank and Katherine were back in Orlando, so I went with them to Chik-Fil-A for dinner, along with Wedgie, Dale and Logan (and Mason, if you count unborn fetuses). It was fun, great to see everyone, and we gave Wedgie and Dale the wedding card that we bought for them Sunday night (from me, Bun, Hank and Katherine). They were married seven months ago, but the card had bride and groom weenie dogs on it, so we couldn't resist.
After dinner Wedgie and Dale had to get Logan home, so we said our goodbyes and the rest of us went across the street to an Indian supermarket, which was pretty intresting. I found some falafel and decided to get it since I can't seem to get to any supermarket other than Publix, where I haven't been able to find falafel lately. Hank even bought it for me, which was very nice of him. I really love my friends (and not because they buy me stuff). Hank made a few purchases as well: a lychee drink (which he liked a lot), some cookies that tasted like chocolate fortune cookies, and Mix Jam.
We sat outside of the Indian store and watched the sky turn dark and begin to lightening a bit. We all tried Hank's exotic treats, which was a pretty fun adventure. There was much confusion over the ingrediants of Mix Jam as well as the squeaky texture. They were like soggy donuts (but somehow squeaky, especially the white ones). The dark brown ones had pink spots in the middle, but there was nothing pink in the list of ingrediants. An interesting experience, indeed.
After another great (though short) visit with my friends, I came home and eventually watched the American Idol finale (which was better than expected) and the Top Chef finale (I LOVED that show, and I'm sad that it's over. I recorded it and will watch it again with Andrew when he gets home, so don't tell him who won! =P) And now... Off to try to sleep alone, I suppose. Or perhaps a movie...
Love you, Bun ♥
