A year ago today
A year ago today, my cousin Kim was found dead after committing suicide. We still don't understand why. Her sister, Sam posted on Kim's FB page last night that a year ago she had hung up the phone with her. Her last conversation with her sister. She said if she had known, the conversation would have gone differently and she would have never hung up. My heart hurts for Sam, who had that last conversation with her, and who replays that conversation over and over, trying to look for clues. My heart hurts for my cousin Ellie, who is the one who found her sister, hung to death. I just can't even imagine. They are a strong family and they've gotten through this year but it still hurts.
I had taken the day off work that Monday (to go swimming at Talayna's) and that's when I found out. Thank God because I don't know how I would have processed that kind of news at work. Odd thing is, I took today off to go swimming at Talayna's, without realizing I had done that a year ago.
