I just spent about a week up in Northern California with Irving and his family. His sister, EJ, is also training to run the San Francisco Marathon with me. She is training in Chicago, but when we were on vacation, we took advantage of the time and ran together! We woke up early on Sunday morning and just ran.. for over 7 miles! There was a nice running path... the goal was an hour and a half, and we actually did a little more than that. Once we got back and added up the milage, we were so excited. Thats about a 13 minute mile pace. A little slow, but thats ok. My muscles and lungs feel great... its my tummy that keeps acting up. I'm taking Immodium AD before next week's run. It was awesome to run though.
Then we tried to run the day after that, but only went about 2 miles or so. It was a good recovery run. Just enough to stretch our legs out a little bit. Running the day after a long run is not so smart.
My birthday is on Monday, and EJ and Irving's mom bought me a brand new Ironman watch! I was so excited. This is the marathoner's best friend. It keeps track of your pace, your intervals, everything. It has memory, so i can look back later and see where i had my best time, or best mile. Its so amazing. I love it. You can see a picture of it on my
homepage.
Other than that, I feel great. Thanks to everyone who has donated. I'm so close!!!! Alex and I are setting up a booth at the Rose Bowl swap meet in a few weeks. Hopefully we'll make a lot of money doing that. Thanks so much. It really means a lot to me to see so many people supporting me and this wonderful cause. You guys rock!!!
