there has been a noticable difference in the responses between the katrina disaster and the california fires.
communities coming together vs communities falling apart
people evacuating peacefully/willingly vs people evacuating by force or simply refusing
rich communities vs poor communities
early response times vs late response times
white communities vs black communities
so it makes me wonder, have we just learned from the mistakes in new orleans? or is the response different because the people and communities are different?
maybe a little of both?
zack and i debated this for a short time last night. i'm curious to hear what other people think about this.
