I'm back from L.A., ladies and gents. I can't say one way or another about the interview. I think I did well, but life's funny and I'm not known for being the most optimistic person on Earth.
But the upside to my trip included seeing my friends, visiting my old hangouts, and just general awesomeness! The weather was kind, the food was very L.A., and my rental car was full of lulz. Most importantly, I want to give a huge THANK YOU to
katbaggins. I mean it when I say I couldn't have done any of this without your help. Even though the hill leading to your apartment mocked me like I've never been mocked before, you have a lovely home and I want to thank you and Mr.
katbaggins for all your help and kindness.
To briefly recap the madcap, while in L.A., I had the chance ...
- To catch up with my buddy Chaise and watch her get hood on the restaurant's staff for not letting her substitute another side dish for her complimentary side dish
- To purchase a T-shirt advertising my fav coffee/tea stand in North Hollywood that is no longer a stand
- To playfully flirt with a prospective more-than-a-friend who shall remain nameless
- To drive all over the SFV and remind myself that traffic jams are the one universal constant of the world
- And to see Kevin MacDonald act like a nut in the company lobby where I had my interview. /random
Good times were had. Minus the traffic jams.
Let's see. What else ...
- Did a little networking with Josh Smith
- Drove David George to pick up his reference masters for his new solo album Love/Life
- Stopped by my old part-time bookstore gig where I caught up with my former co-workers & bought a new ring
- Joined katbaggins for drinks & dinner at our old standby (the booze is still amazing!)
- And last, but not least, snagged a Conan O'Brien tour keychain even though I didn't attend his show. :-D
Jealous? ... You're jealous. /Simpsons reference
So what did I learn from this brief experience....
- I am not ashamed to admit that I will succumb to impulse buying if it involves cheaply made souvenirs for my family
- As difficult as I am to get along with, there are people who genuinely miss me when I'm gone
- Los Angeles, with all its faults, suits me
