Lesser proof of insanity

Trimming the queue (dw, Wednesday, mostly at studio). I went in tonight, collected and glazed more bisqueware, and trimmed a bowl, emptying my trimming queue.

There was an off-schedule glaze firing, so my lesser proof of insanity and a second set of beads are back from glaze firing. The lesser proof of insanity has been inflicted on my teacher, who failed to look dismayed about this. Of the beads, I'm most pleased with the bird -- the st. john's yellow was a crest along the top of his head, but it all snuck down to form a dot on his beak, but it did speckle nicely. One of the staff wandered by as I was looking over the beads, and explained how to use soda ash to deliberately capture the flashing that turned up accidentally on the spiral-and-shaner-blue-green bead from the first set. I think that gave the unglazed white clay a lot more character and a slightly nicer surface -- one more thing to try on future beads. Yay, tiny mad experiments.
