Roots and paths

First spring Madrigal event happened. Final Root Maze mod happened, despite my fears about the weather and inability to do any setup pregame (due to rain). Much of that pre-game time was burned on turning my cribsheet into PC-presentable signs, so it wasn't wasted -- would've been nice to do that beforehand, but I'd been dithering about signs vs ( Read more... )

The setup on the Root Maze was phenomonal. I was going to say amazing, but realized it was a bad pun, so avoided it. That was a brilliant concept and I very much enjoyed it, even if I had to tromp all the way out there to get to it. *grumble, grumble, stupid Pale plot in the woods* ;-)

How did you wind up waaaaaaay out in the woods on the Root Maze mod when Zephyr is a priest of Naveril? I was really surprised by the number of White Court folks I spotted out there.

The execution needed some work -- better distinguished string colors (I just pulled stuff from my yarn stash instead of getting neon brights), better NPC briefings, a little more clarity on the opening PC briefing, better flow control -- but the NPCs are made of solid awesome and many of them really got into their characters, and that makes a world of difference, at least to me.

It isn't that terribly far away create_universe April 6 2009, 18:46:15 UTC
But Weald and traveling is a big part of being a follower of the God of the Four Winds, is it not? In fact, a certain Priest of Naveril makes it his habit to spend time in the woods east of Shadowfane in the early morning hours before breakfast. This time his explorations were cut a bit short when he came upon strange and wondrous visions which he knew were probably best left to be fully discovered later on. And later in the day when several people in town exclaimed they needed to find friends who were in the Root Maze, the full import of his previous visions were revealed to him and he was able to quickly and unerringly guide them to the exact spot they needed to find ( ... )

It isn't that far away to those of us who like running around in the woods, but sometimes it seems like the dividing line between white court and pale, player-wise, is whether they like that sort of thing. :)

And yes, Naveril claims both Weald and Travel, but there are still some interesting philosophical issues there.

I'm glad there was plenty to do! It was really fabulous having lots of NPCs to help make things happen. I hope that wasn't a fluke.

Zephyr is generally all over the place and befriends many different people. That wasn't the first Pale encounter that I've hiked way out in the woods to help out a Pale friend. Anitra needed a full contingent and she got two Eurvein (Zephyr and Halia).

We both had to cut out on her because of the timing overlap between the Root Maze and the Eurvein mod. Halia and I both were hesitant to back out on her, but our elemental guide assured us that we'd be able to catch up and help Anitra, so we came in later in the game.

It looked fantastic. The concept was marvelous. The NPCs were a lot of fun. Thank you.

Full teams weren't required! Dunno what the hook said, though, since that was not me.

... actually, I'd really like a list of everyone who was on the mod, since I am *so* not going to be able to reconstruct it from memory.

The hook said they could go with less than full teams. However, when you think about the amount of power between Zephyr and Halia, that could have been a substantial loss. And seeing the setup and how the teams needed to bridge those gaps (I liked that), more people were better.

Regarless, we had made a commitment. Anitra had planned on us. It wasn't fair of us to let her down.

So from that you can assume Anitra, Halia and Zephyr. The rest were Alymar, Renard, Magpie and one more who is escaping me at the moment. Must be someone on Bladesworn given the rest of the makeup of that team. Sorry. Brain isn't coming through for me this morning.

There were some cheats for getting across gaps with fewer people -- vines & such -- but it would've taken more time.

Liam was the seventh on the Keeper of the Stone's path.

Chance was leading Wonder.
Rowan was leading Root.
Averil was leading Huntsman.
Sasha was leading Plants; I think Klee and Roderick and Grum were with her.
Gent was leading Klaaxon (I think).
?? was leading Warmaster -- maybe Lucius? I'm pretty sure Vlad and Galen were on Warmaster.

Now I just need to fill in *everyone else*.

Muratan was leading Warmaster. You should recall him finally stabbing you in order to take the drum. Vladimyr and Galan were also or Warmaster, along with Airethil and myself. Lucius was with another group. The other people beyond the ones you mentioned that I can definitely recall being there are Halia, Matthew, Ragnar, Amos, Alastair, Amaris, Callie, Alymar, Kelefaroth and Magpie.

Ah! Thank you.

Galen eventually took down the drummer, but maybe Muratan took the drum? So Warmaster was Muratan, Martin, Airethil, Galen, Vladimir, and was that all of you?

Lucius was in the drum fight, so if he and Alastair weren't on Warmaster, they were on Huntsman.

I'm going to guess Amos and Ragnar were also with Sasha on Plants?

Amaris was on the Warriors mini-mod, so she was with either Klaaxon or Warmaster.

I think Callie was with Gent, so Klaaxon?

I know I saw Kelefaroth, Timbermane, A-- whose name I can't spell, Shayle Frost, and Vanora at the heart of the root maze, and saw Jackal at some point, but have no idea which paths they were on.

Warmaster was Muratan leading, Vladimyr, Airethil, Galan, Ragnar and Roderick. I was added to the group just before the fight for the drum. The other group (Huntsman/Huntsperson/Huntsboar) that fought along with us at the drum fight included Lucius, Alistair and Averyl. There may have been one or two more.

Lisse was the other Liendrel lady with Timbermane.

I fail at remembering. Hmmm. Maybe Amaris was on Vines, not Warriors, which would put her with Wonder or Root?

Thank you for helping fill in the giant gaping holes in my memory.

The Root Maze was incredible to play in...Not so much to clean up, but we got it done :). I (Nev'lith) was with Klaaxon, it was myself, Ghent, Jackal, Terra (little shaman), Callie, and Elena.

Matthew eventually joined Klaaxon as well.

Terra -- what does she (?) look like?
Elena Berellen?

I'm glad you had fun! And thank you *very* much for the cleanup help. It was really fabulous to turn around and discover it was just about done when I thought I'd barely started.

Terra is the new little shaman that was there this event, wears a lot of brown and a fur vest, also an archer that liked to shoot Bob alot. (played by my wife Valerie, she helped carry the burlap back during clean up)
Yes Elena Berellen

Anytime :) We can't wait to come back. SO MUCH FUN!
