Peanut butter movie

A reaction of "ack, I have contaminated my kitchen and must clean everything" was not what I expected from myself in response to making peanut butter cookies. The cookies turned out just fine -- or at least, so the intended audience told me (I've never been a huge fan, and they're always crumbly) -- but now I feel like I need to scrub the allergens off everything. I don't have that reaction to any other sort of nut, or any of the other things various and sundry people I feed occasionally are allergic to.

He of the brownie recipe & some of his volleyball cohort were going to see The Forbidden Kingdom, so I tagged along. I was not expecting a fairy tale. It was a fine one, and quite pretty, once I'd picked up on the genre -- before that some of the tropes were irritating me. It reminded me of the Neverending Story (book not movie), particularly in the framing. I loved the Monkey King, and the twist in the monk's story. I would've liked more backstory for the witch. The main character being from Boston was an odd bit of specificity in an otherwise fairly generic geeky American teenager.

Then we toddled off to Chinatown for shabu-shabu, which I don't think I'd had before. It made an entertaining meal, and I heard the latest on robotics software and silly kittens and other fine topics.
