Apparantly they are unsafe, even though they continue to be sold. I guess the thought is that an infant can wedge their face into the bumper/mattress and suffocate. They make some mesh bumpers that are supposed to be safer.
By the time J actually used his crib, he was walking so I wasn't concerned about using it for comfort / aesthetic but if she uses it prior to that, I'll use it without, which is a bummer, because the things are so danged cute.
Why does the bumper have to go? Are they unsafe?

The bedding is cute :) It's a great room! Is the crib J's old crib? Or did you have to get a new one?
