So I'm wondering if I can actually hack another two years at school. It's just been utter shit so far, the subjects are ok, nothing amazing. The people however are total cocks. It's just all so blah *bangs head against wall*
In other news I saw Stephen Fretwell on Friday. That was rather good. Rather fucking amazing in fact. Got to Soundhaus at about quarter to 8 and the few people that were already there were just standing round the edges, not really doing much just waiting for it to start. Me and Jade were bored so she went and asked about the Soundhaus's unsigned nights for the benefit of James coz we want some KunK in Northampton. The first support act started at like 8ish, guy called Liam Frost. Think Bob Dylan/Willy Mason mixed with a little bit of Damien Rice. Really fucking awesome. We'd moved down to the front of the stage by this point, it was only us and 3 other people actually standing on the dance-floor type area. I felt bad for the guy, but it was way more personal for us so I wasn't that bothered. I'd heard some of Liam Frost's stuff before after he posted something on the Willy Mason board after he supported him back in February it must've been. I really enjoyed it. We joined in with a bit of his banter coz we felt kinda bad for him. His jokes weren't funny but his music more than made up for it.
Second support band were a Danish duo called Hush. Wow. They were absolutely amazing. The girl was one of those totally stunning people who just had us completely mezmorised for the whole set. I don't even want to try and describe them just look at this ... www.hush.dk and make your own mind up. Y'all will probably hate them now, but that makes me far far cooler than any of you.
So then, Mr Fretwell himself. I actually got a bit teary-eyed towards the start of the set when he was just playing without his band. I think it was Emily followed by Bad Bad You, Bad Bad Me that did it. I was fine when the full band came on and started playing more cheery songs though. The lights went off at one point, so he was playing totally in the dark, which was kind of cool, and me being me, it took a few minutes to register that it wasn't actually supposed to have done that. The lights were a bit fucked when they put them back on, Fretters spotlight kept blinding me, slightly annoying. The guy next to me was also really really annoying. He kept wolf-whistling (Fretters is no way hot) and abusing the bass player. Oh, and he kept shouting stuff about Castlemaine. Arsefucker.
So yeah, it was a rather awesome gig. Would've liked to stay around for the club night thing they had on after. Liam Frost personally asked us to stick round and have a drink, but we had to leave. On the way home my dad told me an amusing story about how'd him and my mum had mistakenly ended up in a gay bar whilst they were waiting to pick me up. That one will have to be remembered and used against him in the future. Then me and Jade watched the new Foo's video about 4 times (Fuck I love that song) before we finally went to bed.
So that was my interesting Friday evening. Erm... the next two weeks is just school. If I last that long. Then on the 17th I'm going CD shopping then to a gig in London with James, I really can't wait. And I think that's it....
