Just watching BBC's Dan Cruickshank's Adventures in Architecture, specifially the Russian bit. It brought back great memories! It was in Kizhi and the train journey there reminded me of the one I took to Petrozavodsk (though he didn't travel platskartniy of course!) in the snow and I nearly died of laughter when he was taking tea with a хозайка and she said 'кущете'!
Anyway, it's towards the end of the programme and is available on BBCiPlayer soon. The last episode is still up there; he's standing outside the Catherine Palace, not Smolniy! Same sort of thing though.
