Me: okay
Me: i want you to imagine something with me
Kate: okay
Kate: what am i imagining
Me: okay so
Me: you like
Me: you are a chef
Kate: okay
Me: you went to chef school
Kate: okay
Me: where they taught you how to chef
Kate: haha
Me: and then you get a job as the head chef at a tgi friday's where your only duties are to teach an endless stream of disaffected twenty-somethings how to cook jalapeno chicken ranch poppers or whatever the fuck
Me: ... that's pretty much the entire scenario
Kate: hahahaha
Kate: yep that sounds like the economy right now
Me: it's not an economy thing
Me: it's a soul-crushing nihilism thing
Kate: yep
Kate: that too
Kate: who is this
Me: nobody
Kate: oh okay
Me: i just realized that unlike mcdonald's and such
Me: those kind of restaurants probably have at least one person back there who had actual chefing skills
Kate: i dunno i imagine some of them like doing that
Kate: and maybe coming across some kid who actually wants to be a chef
Me: 'i can lead you to a world where chicken does not come in jalapeno-soaked pre-sliced nuggets from a freeze-dry bag
Me: if you will but follow me'
Kate: yes
Kate: that
Me: like some kind of fast food bodhisattva
