Plans for the day? Are scuppered
I was hoping that what with getting my bike to the shop early for its service, it would perhaps be done by lunchtime. No such luck. Despite getting it there just after 9:30, the mechanic didn't have it on the stand until after 12:00! He's also quoted me something in the region of £250 to get it fixed - some of the things that need doing:
Anyway, I won't be able to collect the bike until about 5:00. Given that I wanted to be in Reading for about 5:30, this is a bit of a bugger. OTOH, it gives me more time to get the laundry done and drop sone stuff off to Dad (even if I have to walk, although adelpha's not using his bike today...) in the meantime.
I've also not heard back from the organisers of the conference , so I'll probably be in Reading tomorrow with little to do. Might go for a wander around the campus - it's out of term time, and so will be fairly empty.
- New brake blocks
- New chain and gear cassette
- New pedals (they'll match again! Whoo!)
- New gear cables
- New parts that hold the rear wheel in place (I forget the name)
- New rear wheel, while the old one has its rim rebuilt for heavy use
