I keep mentally composing work rants, but they're just too depressing. I don't know what it is about my position within the company, but I always seem to see people at their most needy, entitlement-bitchy worst. Today was no different. A few months back, a NAM proposed a new product to promote with one of the big supermarkets. After allocating a product code (and getting a new barcode out of the customer, a task which normally summons the words "blood" and "stone" to mind) and enrolling it on the production systems, the Powers That Be decided to promote the existing part number instead. All well and good, except that it was done in such a way as to remove some critical information from Event Manglement.
Fast forward to today. Said supermarket has started transmitting orders for the promotion - with the new barcode. Suddenly, people at the production site and the NDC are running around like headless chickens and firing E-mails off left right and centre. A few well-placed phone calls and one E-mail would have done the trick, but no. When I finally got the request to finish enrolling the promotional part on all systems, I got three calls from customer service. One was from the customer's contact, asking if I had the information. I stated that it would be with me in about half an hour. 40 minutes later, soon after the information had arrived Event Manglement had replicated around and I saw that pretty much ALL of the fields that I needed were empty and so I filled them in myself and then started enrolling the bloody thing, she called me again. I said that I'd started, and would be finished in about 10 minutes. Not three minutes later, her boss (who sits about 10 feet away from her) called me! She got a flea in her ear...
It's always the same. No-one wants to do anything until it's almost too late, and no-one in charge has enough clues about what actually happens to be able to do anything about it. *Sigh* Back to the situations vacant pages, I suppose.
Is still too hot. Heat during the day - fine. Heat during/after sunset - no bloody fair! Have just had a shower that started off cold and got cooler, to the point where there was no condensation on the tiles at the end when I came to squeegee them. Splashes, yes - nothing above the splash zone. *Melts* Think it's time for the last episode of CSI:MI season 2, and possibly some of CSI: NY!

csi, work
