Am tired. Some of you will now know how I started the day, and it didn't help that we were both out of bed and dressed by 10:00!
Quick trot to
lolliepopp's old place (via Krispy Kreme's - best concession EVAH on Waterloo Station), bumping into
lilithmagna,
spikeylady and
ergotia on the way.
Highlights of the day included seeing people after far too long, watching
asrana's face light up with the world's biggest grin when I asked her how the new job is going and seeing
maneatingtigger go from psychotic rage at being denied tea to calm placid happiness on being presented with a doughnut. There was also the joy at watching the level in the skip go down, as
lolliepopp's neighbours treated it as a rummage bin. The old NTHell box and remote control went in about 60 seconds!
After unloading the van at her new place/
adjectivemarcus's old place (take your pick), I had to round up the pizza delivery man, who was missing a small but crucial part of the address. Wasn't bad pizza, though! Then
adelpha and I headed to the West End to meet
matthewp, whom I hadn't seen in far too long (about three years, to my horror).
adelpha was feeling tired, so I walked him back to the tube station, missing
matthewp on the way... We finally caught up, had a drink in the bar and wandered off in search of a cinema showing something that we would both enjoy. Turned out to be
Capote. Fantastic film! My enjoyment was only slightly spoiled by the teen queens sitting directly behind...
And then my train was delayed. Well, it never arrived, so they decided to fire up one of the many others sitting around idly instead. We all duly trooped to the named platform, and then waited for them to unlock the doors... I was watching for the lights to go on, and hit the switch accordingly. Two girls were through before they'd opened! I muttered, "Don't mention it(!)" and one of them had the grace to apologise, which made me feel a little better.
By God, it was packed! I was glad to have a seat for the journey, and just read. Someone once asked how I could read on a train, which flummoxed me a tad. "Um, practice?" was my response, to mild amusement. I elaborated by saying that I always have, and it's never bothered me.
Never have I been so pleased to get home as I was about 60 minutes ago!
(SonicStage is on shuffle. It just went from Penguin Cafe Orchestra through Belinda Carlisle to this...)
