Title: True Blue Miracle: December 25th Rating: PG Summary: CHRISTMAS! Note: Axl Rose will, someday, release Chinese Democracy. Also: fic request drop box.
Anyway. The idea of Addison and Eden cuddling together was one of the most beautiful, feel good images I've had in my head in a long time. Also, grumpy and sleepy Addison makes me laugh.
The failed attempt at having some level of order, the conversation with Mama Shepherd, and the snowball fight were quite wonderful.
Derek making Christmas lists in advance broke my heart. So much of this fic was sad, but it would have been more heartbreaking and difficult to get through had you not created such a great family to give Addison all the support she needs to make it through "their season." You did a lovely job, buddy. ♥
Christmas! I enjoyed the snippets of traditions and Addison's semi-strong composure although she was able to admit that it feels the same. I like the line you toed between sad and happy, this could have been seriously angst filled. Addison's bed sharing and her siblings waking her up, after giving her a minute was beautifully portrayed. Also Derek's list was heartbreaking in the best possible way. I think I have my sweet rocking horse from my dad somewhere in an attic. Great work as always.
well, i think i chose a different userpic when i was commenting. I think i chose the one im using now, it just that right now i re did all my userpics so, you know the drill.
All right, so I just read through all of this. Sara, I have not gotten teary at fic in a good long while. This had my eyes watering at several points, such as the rocking horse bit.
You are really good at writing small children realistically. They aren't going to be these little adults with perfect vocabularies, as much as it would help the fic out if they were. So Eden is a rather wonderful child.
I don't know what else to say about this except that it was really wonderful and an accurate depiction of a family holiday, as well as an accurate depiction of a huge loss. And neither was overdone, so I don't feel too jolly and I don't feel too sad.
