Ember Swift Wow. I am not quite sure how to describe the music, the best I could come up with was punk-folk. I went to the website and it says: 'Together, they combine folk, jazz, funk, punk, world (ranging from Middle Eastern to Spanish to Eastern European), pop, classical and reggae. They travel fluidly between genres and easily shrug off any attempts to cloak their music in a style category. Their "style" cannot be contained.' I guess I was kind of on the right track at least.
I got my CD signed by Ember and Lyndell, and appreciated the fact they made a point of introducing themselves and finding out everyone's name.
I have to say I am glad I get to see these shows in the venue we have here. 10 or so rows of theatre style seating in a semi-circle around the stage so there are not any bad seats, and people are all there to see the performance so there is not a crowd of drunks ignoring and/or detracting from the show. The shows are also presented at a reasonable volume, which is good, I hear poorly enough already. This high energy show would probably have been just as enjoyable at club, and I would suspect many of their shows are in such venues.
There is a show Wednesday night at the Sidetrack if anyone looking for some entertainment.
