...and it was all going so well...

This evening was proving to be quite enjoyable...

Went to the Savoy to meet Sarah for her birthday gathering...met some of the people she is now meeting with and after a while struck up a conversation with one lass, mainly about sci fi, Dr Who, Survivors, Red Dwarf, new trek film. Also a little on swords and sorcery...she used to run with a larp group at uni, and working for EH implies a historical interest anways.
Had to leave, earlier than I ideally would have liked, the chatting was actually fun, but I had a train to catch to go to Reading and see The Oysterband (yes for the third time in 12 months, i'm a fan okay! stop looking at me like that!)
Well, at least it was a different tour this time, the 30th Anniversary one. Support came out bang on 8pm, 3 Daft MOnkeys, who I hadn't heard before but thoroughly enjoyed, they be from Cornwall, and if I had had more spare money I would have bought a CD.
Next came The Oysters, and Den bouncing and shouting and singing for the next 2 hours. Venue was awesome, Reading Concert Hall - a "Victorian Aircraft Hanger". High ceiling, great accoustics, good views from everywhere, even the balacony.
Great gig as ever for The Oysters, but I am biased. They even did a signing op at the end of the gig, which far as I know they have never done before. Was good to meet them, they seemed genuinely appreciative of the fans. Picked up a copy of the latest album, which techincally isn't new, nor is it a best of...it's a reworking of 14 of their songs, entirely new versions of them. It's taking some getting used to.

Anyway this is where the karmic repaing started to happen almost immediately. Had an hour to wait for the train...and loads of chavs were on the station, being chased around by the security people.
It was bloody cold. Yes, me, rarely feels the cold, was freezing. Well it was very foggy, that didn't help.
Train delayed.
Eventually it appears, get to Swindon after being on a coach with some people that smelt less than plesant of alcohol and cigarettes.
Loads of people get off at Swindon and steal all the taxis.
So I walk home. Cold again, little drops of frozen water started to form on my fleece jacket from the fog!
Saw a fight on the way home, walked on the other side of the road and ignored it.
Get home, find out the wall along the drive and from the garage between my place and next door is no longer standing and spread all over my driveway...garage looks okay, and not like anyone can get in (or has been), but still...not impressed. Going to take pics in the morning and have warned the landlord to be careful next time he drives home.

And finally, in 8 hours I have my last shift of the week, in a library that has just banned 19 people, but still had loads of trouble every time it was open this week...great, lots of fun...not looking forward to that. Oh and I'm working there every late evening it is open next week...

Think of the money. Money is good. Money buys stuff.
