I want to put you on like a jacket.
With you tight around my wrists and zipped up to my chin,
I am warm,
safe,
protected.
Getting into my jacket when I've been cold is so comforting-
now everything will be alright.
But sometimes...
... sometimes life gets cold, and the initial cocoon feeling
of just having put the jacket on wears off and you're left
teeth chattering,
wishing now for a scarf, or another jacket to put over the first.
The good feeling of that first jacket has worn off,
and while you aren't about to take it off, you still are not satisfied.
Will I ever be warm enough?
