Joss Whedon, the Oscar® - and Emmy - nominated writer/director responsible for the worldwide television phenomena of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE, ANGEL and FIREFLY, now applies his trademark compassion and wit to a small band of galactic outcasts 500 years in the future in his feature film directorial debut, Serenity. The film centers around Captain Malcolm Reynolds, a hardened veteran (on the losing side) of a galactic civil war, who now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and transport-for-hire aboard his ship, Serenity. He leads a small, eclectic crew who are the closest thing he has left to family -squabbling, insubordinate and undyingly loyal.
I'll admit it. In a shameless ploy to see Serenity ahead of schedule, I have offered to use my personal "blogging" space for promotional purposes. Since I'm confessing all, I guess I must admit that I've already seen the movie at a press screening and so I can actually confirm that it's worth shilling for the man (and by the man I do mean, Joss) to see it again. (And then it's only right that I'll have to pay to see it at least three times to make up for the freebies and balance the scales in the favor of Serenity.)
When I read that bloggers could potentially get into see the movie early, I first had to ask myself, am I a blogger and is LJ a blog. I can't confirm my blogging cred by third party documentation, but I can confirm that LJ is a blog (and since I'm posting, I'll just give myself the benefit of the doubt.)
The unbearable blogginess of LJ was confirmed to my satisfaction hither:

1) There is a fairly spiffy website for aforementioned movie:
http://www.serenitymovie.com/I made myself some wallpaper with the Cap'n. Let's just say I'd like to dig through his box for the crunch berries...Wow. Explicit. Maybe just forget that last bit.
2) Saw the movie, loved it. Won't spoil it. Worth watching multiple times. Trailer makes me giggle still. Full review to follow. Funny, smart, silly, sexy. On the whole very Joss-y.
3) I really like this relatively un-spoiled review. Which simultaneously praises Joss and spanks George Lucas.:
