we're starfleet officers, "weird" is a part of the job

some one just posted a link to Voyager Virtual season 8 and 9 on a voyager-community that i'm following. talk about me walking down nostalgia-road!

some of the authors of those stories, are/where ff-authors i was in total awe of when i began my jouney into fandom. i was 14-15 when i began watching ST:Voy. i still find my old calenders and notebooks filled with quotes from the show, 300 different ways to write Janeway, and things like "drink a cup of black coffee; it's Janeway's birthday!" i remember joining ff-challenges and surf pages like koffeeklub to check out the "latest" in ff and fandom. it was way before i joined livejournal, when i was still on mailing-lists and had heard vaguely of LJ.

it was 8 years ago. the kids born that year start second class soon! my god. i wonder what has happened to all those people who were so big in fandom back then. are they still out here? have they, just like me, moved to other fandoms, continuing to write, make art and websites?

i also wonder about peple who never join a fandom. i have so many friends that have never found that one show or book for that matter, that make them surf around the internet to find people who feel the same. who just have favourite shows, but don't add a fandom to it. people who doesn't discuss the character's development, read the director's blog and don't look for pretty icons with fun quotes.

i hope i won't have to be one of those people, that no matter how busy my life gets, i will always have time for 44 minutes of my fav shows and then a few hours of fangirling about it.
