Playing with all men is certainly different from mixed. I've never played an actual game with all men before; it's really fast. A lot easier to throw deep, I think.
Played as a cutter/handler today, in contrast to fall league, where I played as a deep. I threw a lot of ridiculous stuff today. It somehow worked... I think I threw less than 10 backhands! Weird. Also, it's been a while since I've been able to throw forehand hucks for scores. (Not sure why.) Ahhhh, it's damned nice to play in an actual game!
Won the first game against Chuck Norris. The ground was pretty hard from the cold temperatures, and the snow didn't help either. On the plus side, playing savage meant that we kept pretty warm until halftime and the end of the game. One of our stud players got injured during this game, and we dropped to 6 people for the last few points.
Won the second game against Wesley Snipes. Another team member showed up during this game, allowing us to play with 7 again. Until another person (the guy in the photo, actually) got injured at the very end of the game. D'oh! Back to 6 people for us.
Lost the next game against Jean Claude Van Damme 14-12. At least we picked up two more players who originally came for pickup, so we had the luxury of a sub. Not that it helped, apparently. Also, during this game, the weather picked up and it became quite nice weather for playing disc. (Aside from the decently cold temperature.)
So with all that, we wound up in the finals against Ah-nahld, as we beat Snipes head to head. We lost one of the guys from pickup, so back to savage. They creamed us pretty good, with a final score of 13-9. We couldn't really stop their hucking, which was problematic. They took an early lead and held onto it the entire game.
Random: we played man defense, force flick, for the entire tournament. We also shredded pretty much every zone that was thrown against us.
