Job happenings?
Hello peeps! Just for some who are curious
(namely my mom)
on what's happening in my life...
To be more specific, my job life.
People may claim I have no life and is bumming around
(you know who you are, you agitate me for no reason
but to make me grow more white hair)
But after trying so hard for months in the beginning,
I managed to land myself a freelance job with a non-profit
organization, that eventually introduced me to my second
non-profit client. Both regarding layout design.
And officially, the first client (which I have a year contract
at the moment) is done for the year about 2 weeks ago.
With great luck and all, I could remain within New Zealand
as he would like me to work with her in the following years.
Go me!
The other was done within a few weeks since I met them,
so bleh. Hope to hear from them soon.
(I HATE THEIR WORD FILES CONSISTING OF HIDEOUS TABLES)
Anyway, as I continue on with my job search, I have met
many obstacles. Namely... the "we're looking for locals" excuse.
And the most irritating ones are "we want at least 2 years experience".
For goodness sake, if you refuse to let me at least get an internship,
how do you expect me to have experience. And you're freaking
advertising JUNIOR ROLE!!!
From what I gather about Junior Mac Operator... You don't really
need freaking experince since the job is so brain-dead, you do it
asleep! SHEESH!
Blah them and blah them, I once again through the power of networking
(it is amazing, I, NiYan, actually socialize without prompting),
I landed myself a contracted freelance job... with the local council!
THE LOCAL COUNCIL!!! Equals to GOVERNMENT!!!
Well, not exactly government, but a section for it.
And it is quite a good pay as well.
It was then I learnt how much I should charge people for my services.
And learnt how to give a speech in front of... Strangers with a capital S!
(and on that note, I think I should start doing my tax to get my refund
at the end of the year... crap! anyone wants to do it for me? *eyes mom*
Hate this nonsense!)
Of course, I went under an agent who is to assist me in landing a job
and gaining my PR status (spur of the moment decision - not smart).
They did get me a job, but I was on probation a little too late... But I was
fine until I found out about what is going on with the company.
For those who works in a printing company, I think you understand the
repercussions of not having a manager? A Production manager? For
6 months? And they are just going to hire one when I finally decided
not to take the job.
Well, another good reason for not taking the job is the fact that...
I was pushed shoved work without any consideration of what I have
on my plate at the moment. And having the boss jumping the gun for
the right reason (but he overdid it) on the wrong target... I don't like the
idea of having to stress my days for the next 2 years with them. No thanks.
Especially when I found out after the manager left, in the span of 6 months,
5 other workers left as well.
Not. Good. Idea.
Even if you pay me a lot, I don't think I want to have their characteristic
and start picking up drinking and smoking habits.
KARAOKE at 2PM at the cafeteria which is next door to the office I am... OI!
No sense of priority here. Sheesh! And I'm supposed to be working my
bum off while they party behind me? Go find another willing idiot, thanks.
Of course the agent tried to lend me another job at Petone but they can't
seem to catch each other (and they KNEW they were very late in completing
the agreement we had) so I laid a whammer, saying I wish to withdraw from
the agreement. Regardless if they say the job turnover is slow this year
yadda yadda but come ON!!! It is now October and we started this in MAY!!!
PLENTY OF TIME! Especially when I found out there are a lot of agencies
who will link me to the job for free... You're losing here, buddy.
Gonna squeeze my refund from you tomorrow.
On that note, I have linked myself with a few more companies and agents
AND support agents, and I managed to land myself with a mini freelance
work from MartiniDesign and had just completed a website design for them
just an hour ago, and they'll be having a look at it.
Will be hearing from them tomorrow.
If they like what I did, they'll select me as one of their freelancers.
Hopefully, Web Designs (not Flash, PHP crap THANKS) to practice my scripting
skills. I truly forgotten how I used to strive solving this script functions...
But it is still a freelance work (a lot of this kind of work, much to my despair)...
But if I am considered a New Zealander and decided to freelance, I won't
necessary die. Hmmm.
Anyways, I'm doing free service to a Yoga Centre and in return, they feed me.
Vegan food.
And spiritual advancement.
And now you know why I am a vegetarian.
(well, I was vegan but due to health reasons, back to dairy!)
And why I stopped reading yaoi.
Well, more like I stopped craving to go to yaoi_daily e-ve-ry-day.
Still reading my transformers, heehee.

Anyway.
Graff, remember Bob? Due to one (hilarious) incident, I found out
his company is looking for some designers and he placed my name in.
And the role isn't advertise.
And most of the workers are from the Wanganui School of Design.
(GRAFF!!! His company is the one who made the very cool maori showcase
with touchscreen for a museum!!! They came at design camp!)
And he is a fellow Malaysian and they very kam-ching with him.
And because of that, the interview is going to happen earlier than planned.
And so far, there are two application (including me).
And two vacancies.
Anyone see where I'm getting at?
OMG PLEASE LET THIS BE THE ONE PLSPLSPLSPLSZOMG!
