Breaking the Bonds of Fate
This entry is dedicated to culgan, who I'm sure would've been a great Corsair if he'd stayed in FFXI...
The following is a transcript of the dialogue from the rarely-attempted Corsair version of the 5th limit break quest ("G5") from Final Fantasy XI. A penultimate 1on1 battle vs. the captain of the Seagull Phratrie, Qultada, who originally initiated you into his crew and the corsair job when you first unlock it. There's very little recorded info on this fight since most people will never attempt it, having already completed G5 via the generic Maat-fight on some other job. It's really a shame they didn't have custom G5s for each job right from the beginning, because I really enjoyed this and frankly found the dialogue inspiring, so here it is, recorded for posterity.
Pre-battle cutscene:
Qultada: Talacca Cove...
Qultada: You remember, don't you? This is the place where you first set out on your path as a corsair...
Qultada: When I first saw your eyes, the potential lying in them made me shiver...
Qultada: And so, I made a wager that you would become what you are today. Do you remember?
Qultada: I won the bet, didn't I, Spengler?
Qultada: At that time, I felt not only expectation...but anxiety, too.
Qultada: I felt...
Qultada: That someday, I might have to face off against this formidable man.
Qultada: Not only power... You have wagered your life many times...
Qultada: Your face clearly shows the resolution you have earned through your experiences.
Qultada: People like you are the most fun to duel against...
Qultada: Such battles make me nearly forget the Imperial hounds I have to deal with during the day...
Qultada: The tension and excitement of a true match...like walking on a tightrope...
Qultada: I love that feeling.
Qultada: Let's decide the outcome of this game once and for all, Spengler.
Qultada: You need not hold back. Come at me with all your might.
Qultada: It is time...
Qultada: Let's play.

Qultada: Does Lady Destiny smile upon you today? Or is it merely Fate's mocking grin? Now is the time to offer your prayers!
Qultada: You need not go easy on me... I certainly will not go easy on you.
