Nature’s Battle

Meandering of an eager stream
splashing downward, the mountain’s seam
undone to reveal the steady flame.
Outside it rains, the peaceful aim
of water falls to whence it came.

Whispering down against their train,
the soldiers rust beneath the rain,
pass canyon trails in clinking mail.
A thundering gorge, valley encrusted
of battlements, forged, a steel untrusted.

Outside, the gentle unwavering tides,
the meadow, broken fronds where fawn resides,
brush becomes fires, for man requires
more than Nature hath granted the liars.

Relentless, the human flow,
beauty lost where its presence grows,
they move and spread without regard
o’er land and leave in grass the shard
of axe discarded, landscape marred.

Who mourns? The river’s flow is checked,
by bits of flint and steel is flecked,
and fawn’s struck down by one who scorns,
Man who, though from Her womb was born,
turned away, and from peace was shorn.

His thistled crown he’ll surely keep,
now Gaia and her creatures weep.
From each breach Her tears are falling
deafened ears can’t hear Her calling.

So sometimes people are just evil to the environment. I like the medieval theme, but this was actually more because of the littering that accompanies end-of-year parties. *glares*
