I've been going to RSI for about two years. Their gate fee has been creeping upwards (it was $5 when I started), but there are relatively few things they don't take.

Do they take CFL bulbs, do you know? I didn't see them in their list and I've been looking for somewhere that takes them (there is no way they last the multiple years the packaging says they last, grr...)

Nope, they don't take CFLs...not yet, anyhow. I've done some poking around and haven't yet found any resource for recycling those things. It's a disposal problem that nobody seems to have thought about when the whole "go CFL and save the planet!" push started.

Home Depot will be setting up CFL recycling in their stores: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/24/business/24recycling.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

I shared a link to this in my Facebook in case this link dosn't work right...

Here's also Home Depot's press release (PDF): http://www6.homedepot.com/ecooptions/stage/pdf/cfl_recycle.pdf

I was pretty happy about it, and went and bought new CFLs I needed for the bathroom there!
