Well, that was quick! The GP I usually see is on holiday so I saw a different doctor in the practice. The consultation lasted about three minutes. I described the problem and possible solution. He said "Absolutely", double-checked my blood pressure readings and said "Come off the Amlodopine as of today and come back in three weeks so I can keep an eye on your blood pressure".
It's not often one goes to the Doctor and comes back taking less medication. My blood pressure has been consistently good throughout this whole saga so it should work out nicely. It's still going to take three or four weeks to go down if the Amlodopine is contributing. Perhaps I should monitor the amount of swelling every day by attempting to put my formal black shoes on and seeing how difficult it is.
