"Chastity is the most unpopular of the Christian virtues. There is no getting away from it: the Christian rule is, 'Either marriage, with complete faithfulness to your partner or else total abstinence.' Now this is so difficult and so contrary to our instincts, that obviously either Christianity is wrong or our sexual instinct, as it now is, has gone wrong. One or the other. Of course, being a Christian, I think it is the instinct which has gone wrong." - C.S. Lewis from Mere Christianity

this is the most backwards thought i've ever heard. no other animals marry except for us. some animals mate for life, some don't. marriage and abstinence are human abstractions and not at all part of the natural order of the world. procreation and intercourse ARE natural. christianity is a strange brand of nihilism indeed- substituting our instincts which can be deduced with certainty for an unknown sort of reward system by worshipping a faceless & unnecessary "creator"
