Change

You don't need me to point out the obvious, but the state of California has agreed with the rest of the country in their choice for Barack Obama. Why? Because people want change, and reading everyone's thoughts on "change" leads me to believe that this is why people voted for him. Problem is, when I read shit like, "America is ready for change, ( Read more... )

i agree. i didn't vote for obama because i sincerely did not agree with a lot of his views and policies he was proposing, not because he was BLACK. but even my brother-in-law, a puerto rican from a ghetto thought i was racist because i wanted a "white guy" because my boyfriend is "white".

?????

and its even sadder that this is true because i even asked my own parents why they were voting obama. they're hispanic immigrants that have been in this country over 30 years. i asked my father first, and he said "i dont want another bush", and i had to try and explain how mccain is NOT bush. but then i heard the saddest thing out of this mouth: "Once a democrat, always a democrat, no matter what!"

.... how am i suppose to take him seriously anymore? he says he will always vote for the democratic party, even if they're not fit. (and im not saying obama is not fit, i just dont think he's ready.) he didn't have a real reason why he wanted obama in office.

and then i asked my mother. "why are you voting for him?" she laughed nervously and said "why?" and i said "yes, tell me why." and she laughed nervously again and said "well...why are you voting mccain?"

see? they dont know shit. and so many other people dont know what they're doing either. if anything, that makes me furious. we do have a lot of ignorance in this country.

im not happy obama won, but i am not mad either. i truly hope he can do well while he's in office. i'll give him my support when i feel he deserves it. for now, i just have to watch and see.

That's exactly why I've been scared of these elections for years, and granted we didn't really know it'd be Obama v. McCain, signs pointed to that a long time ago. My dad hit it on the head when he said, "Really, those two are the best we've got?" I've had my differences with my father, but this is most definitely something I strongly agree with him on.

One of my classmates said, "If ignorance is bliss, then why do I still hate living in this country?" I couldn't agree more.

my parents wanted mcsame to win because he fought in the vn war, their friends also said they will vote for him for that same reason. A flawed reason I would say but I voted for Obama not because of the color of his skin but on his stances on various issues. I don't think he has made his campaign based on the issue on the color of his skin, but others take up the reason to do so which drives me nuts. People should be better educated and informed on how this system works in order to make better choices to govern their own damn selves. People are too ignorant to take their own initiative and would believe any media because they don't check facts themselves. This is the flaw of democracy. Even more so that one person will never represent a majority. But like you said, not everyone wants change. Lets see if they are now going to go around and say, "Can you spare some CHANGE?"
