As most of you should know, I'm a rather large Halo fan, and with Halo 3 less that two weeks away, I'm atwitter with anticipation (Yes, I did just use "atwitter. Bite me). I don't expect everyone to care about the games. Hell, I know a lot of you that read this don't like them at all (Understatement: Denise). Regardless of how you feel, I want you to put aside your thoughts on the games, since I don't want to discuss those in this particular writing.
Instead, I would like you guys to take a look at the advertising campaign for the new game. I'm not talking about the Mountain Dew Game Fuel or anything like that. I'm talking very specifically about the
"Believe" ad campaign running on TV. Now, I HATE ads. A lot. But this ad capaign came out of left field. Come with me for a sec and see why.
Forget that these ads have anything to do with Halo. Replace the Master Chief with one of your childhood or current icons, be it Optimus Prime, The Doctor, or whoever. Just someone you can get behind who has had the fate of the world(s) in their hands.
Now go watch
this and
this.
Nothing flashy, nothing over the top. Just a simple expression of how our heroes make us feel in our darkest hours. Awesome.
What's really neat, and my favorite of the group, is
this "Making of" video that explains how the diorama was made while staying in the context of the other ads. Very awesome.
Let me know what you think.
