Fling with it for humanity started prior to 1000 AD. Around 1000 AD, Arabic traders brought it back home, and for the first time recorded, began cultivating it. The brew they made was called "qahwa" - which, literally translated, means that which prevents sleep.
Around 1453 a Turkish law was set into place which indicated that a woman could divorce her husband if he did not provide her with her daily quota of coffee.
