spain

Ok, so I´m finally going to attempt to make a real update from Spain. Let me give you an idea of what the city´s like. Ok. Cross England´s weather with any american city you´d like, and there you have it. Except all the signs are in spanish (well, most of them...there are the random few that are in english). Oh, i forgot that the pretty part of it kind of looks like CA as well, with palm trees and ocean...but then there are trees from the northeast as well...it´s really weird to see palm trees and the kind of trees you find in NH together. oh well.

So i wanted to get a tan...but it´s been rainy all week. They say it always rains in Santander....idk....hopefully it´ll clear up soon so that when i return it will actually look like i went to Spain. bummer. Other than the weather, though, I´ve been having a ton of fun. I haven´t gone out on a Saturday nightyet (i know, i´m a loser), but it would´ve been too much of a pain to get home, cause none of the guys that i talk to live close enough to walk me home....and i don´t want to be mugged/raped/murdered on my way home, thank you very much.

I have gone shopping....a lot...i haven´t bought that much though. I got Harry Potter and teh Sorcerer´s Stone in spanish and a black shirt....and I´m going to buy the cutest bag every today or tomorrow. I saw it last week and fell in love with it, and now it´s on sale! YAY! Basically during the entire month of July, everything in santander is on sale. It´s awesome. I´ve also spent way too much money on ice-cream, candy, and internet cafe´s. I swear, they put something addicting in the ice-cream here, cause EVERYONE has one EVERY DAY!!!! It´s crazy.

So we´ve had three ¨excursions¨/trip thingy´s so far. We went to the cathedral and Museo del Bellas Artes on the first one. That was okay, but somewhat boring. Last saturday, we went to a nearby town called Santoña and climbed a mountain. It was a beautiful day (the only one so far) and the view was absolutely gorgeous. I´ll have to show you pictures when i get home. Then, yesterday, we journeyed by train to a quaint little town about a half hour away. Our teacher said it´s where all the nobles used to live in old spain. Some of teh houses were beautiful. I fell in love with one and decided that that´s where I want to live when I grow up. The city´s called Liérganes, and it´s famous for it´s Chocolate con Churros. We had some...they´re sooo good, but soooo unhealthY! Omg, now I want some. They´re wicked good.

So I went to see Batman Begins in Spanish on Monday. Luckily I´d already seen it in english, so I could understand what was going on. I didn´t catch much of the spanish though, which sucks. I don´t think my spanish is improving at all. Bummerness. Oh well, it´s def not getting worse. I´m going to el Corto Inglés today. It´s this HUGE mall in Santander. Hopefully it´ll be fun.

That´s it for now. Everyone email me, please!

Love,
Becca
