(so I can still use a santa hat icon on DW *g*)
Because the very nice hotel we stayed at charges for all Internet access, including the wireless in the lobby. I stay at a lot of hotels for work, and this is the first time I've seen one charge for wireless in the lobby~~ am wondering if it's a new fad. (The plus sides were an unexpected $60 off per night on the room rate and a big, quiet, pretty place to lounge around in with the folks.)
But! Today I got home and yay! I had a Yuletide story waiting for me! It's
The Forest, a pleasant gen story for Legend of the Seeker set in season 2, with Richard, Kahlan, Zedd, and Cara (bonus yay! for me because I'm loving Cara) being competent and together and having an adventure with some dark undertones. A very nice gift to come home to! (And I missed the feeding frenzy/AO3 slowness issues, too.)
Then I peeked at the story I wrote, and it seems like my recipient didn't hate it (*phew*) and a couple of other people liked it, so that's a relief.
And that's all I've looked at in the archive so far. I started reading another story but am not finding the concentration skills for it right now. I think I'm going to go watch Singin' in the Rain, which has been on my mind since last night when we watched Broadway Melody of 1936 on my laptop (lugged along in anticipation of free wireless - bitter ha!) in the hotel. Robert Taylor singing and dancing! Robert Taylor also being phroar (that wasn't a surprise). Eleanor Powell was *so* adorable! And I have a soft spot for Jack Benny.
