REALIZATION
After staying for the night at Uruha’s apartment, Reita accompanied Aoi home to his apartment, just to take the things that Aoi needed. Reita just still couldn’t let Aoi do everything alone. That’s why he forced Aoi to stay at Reita’s apartment. Reita chose his apartment because he won’t take the risk to let the possibilities of Tora doing some mad things by come to Aoi’s apartment, or anything.

Then, the next day, two days after Aoi told everything about Tora to Reita, Uruha and Saga - Aoi’s new friends - Aoi and Reita went to the campus together. That day was the first time for Reita to able to walk beside Aoi with ease. When they walked to their class, there’s a view near the parking area that took Aoi’s attention for a moment and made Aoi stopped his step. Just when Reita realized that Aoi had just stopped walking, Reita turned his head and looked to the same direction. Reita regretted it very much because he felt that he should be able to prevent Aoi from seeing it. Aoi looked at Tora, who’s starting to bring Ruki to their campus.

That time, Tora and Ruki sat among several people that Aoi didn’t know. Aoi looked at them long enough to made Ruki realized about Aoi’s presence. Just when Aoi saw Ruki who looked back at him, Aoi immediately diverted his gaze and continued to walk before Reita to their class. Reita had the opportunity to look at Ruki and Tora. Tora, that guy was unaware about anything at all but his own contentment. The sight annoyed Reita very much. Reita then chose to follow Aoi rather than got dragged on by his own vexation.

That day also, was the first time for Reita to be able to sit beside Aoi even though Tora went to the campus too. Reita also didn’t see Kai’s presence with his cousin just now. Reita remembered with what he’d done to Kai. There was the probability that Tora’s cousin was still not recovered yet after Reita beat him up.

Well, Reita got the certainty after the class that day. Reita and Aoi wanted to see Uruha who attended the different class. Reita and Aoi were just about to exit their class when Tora came and stood right in front of the two of them. Spontaneously, Reita pulled Aoi and made Aoi stood behind him.

“Reita,” Tora called. “We’ve got unfinished business here.”

“About?” Reita didn’t divert his eyes from Tora’s.

“You have to pay for what you’ve done to my cousin.”

Reita snorted. “Oh, you found out?” Reita asked. “So, what are you going to do if I say: I. WON’T?”

Tora raised his fist. “You-”

Tora’s movement stopped. Reita and Aoi didn’t believe with what they saw. Uruha came and caught Tora’s arm to prevent Tora from doing whatever he wanted to do earlier.

“What the fuck is this!?” Tora asked angrily as he warded Uruha’s hand. “What!? So you want some problem too, huh!?” Tora challenged Uruha.

“I’ve never wanted any problem, Tora. Especially from you,” Uruha said. “I just don’t like the way you treat the people around you.”

“Hey!” Tora pointed at Uruha’s face. “You didn’t know what happened! He beat my cousin!” Then, Tora pointed at Reita’s face.

“Oh, Kai? At last someone had the guts to teach a lesson to such an annoying person.”

“W-what did you say?” Tora’s glance was diverted to several people who’re gathering around him. “Hey… w-what is this all about?”

“We’re sick of your acting, Tora…” Uruha said. “Don’t worry. In this campus, there are enough people who dislike your acting too. I don’t even bother to ask them to gather here, right, Guys?”

“U-Uruha…” Reita didn’t believe that it was Uruha who talked like that.

“You don’t know who you’re dealing with!” Tora yelled but his feet were stepping back.

“Oh, you’re wrong, Tora,” Uruha said. “We know exactly who are we dealing with: a rich boy who can’t do anything alone. Now, what we want to know is, what can you do now without your cousin beside you?”

Alternately, Tora looked at Uruha and Reita. He didn’t miss Aoi too. Again, after that, Tora was stepping back. “All of you… you won’t get away with this!” Tora yelled before - at last - he walked completely away.

Uruha laughed. He turned around and looked at Reita and Aoi. “I didn’t expect that it would be this easy to deal with Tora without his cousin. Oh, well, I think, in the first place, maybe this was because no one ever expected that there would be this many people who will go against Tora.”

“I thought that Tora had many people who will stand for him.”

“The gossip about Aoi was already spread everywhere,” Uruha answered. “They realized. Who wants to be friend with someone who likes to be a bouncer?” Uruha laughed. “No, sorry. I mean, to control someone who's important to you is not something we ought to hear, right? Moreover, Tora used violence to do it to Aoi. Tora’s treatment to Aoi didn’t cause jealousy toward many people. It caused hatred. That’s why…” Uruha looked at Aoi who showed surprised face. Uruha patted Aoi’s shoulder. “Take it easy, Aoi. No one blamed you. In place of Tora, the person without nose is more suitable to stand beside you,” Uruha said as he embraced Reita’s shoulder.

“Hey!?” Reita protested with the named Uruha used to call him.

Uruha just laughed and let Reita go. “What we know now is, after Aoi is no longer with Tora anymore, which means, we don’t have to hear annoying gossips about Tora. Aoi’s case was more than enough, I guess. There’s almost no good news about Tora it made many people, include us, had it all enough hearing about it. Let alone Aoi who experienced it himself…” Uruha patted Aoi’s shoulder again and winked at Aoi and Reita. “Come one. We still have to pick Saga up, right?” Uruha said.

“Eh..?” Aoi surprised. “W-we..? You mean..?”

“You’ll go with us, ok?” Reita smiled and held Aoi’s hand. “I’ve told you about it, right? Next time, we have to go together, with Uruha and Saga. It’ll be fun with more people. The more, the merrier…”

Hearing those words, Aoi fell silent. Reita remembered it. Was Reita already planning this? And that time, Aoi was really had no idea where were they going to go.

“Where are we going, Reita?” Aoi asked.

“Just come with us…” Reita smiled, and tighten Aoi’s hand in his hold and followed Uruha.

*

“Hwaa!” Uruha shouted cheerfully as he raised both of his hand high above his head. Saga was there beside him. Uruha then turned around and looked at Reita and Aoi. “We’re a little late. But at least, we can still see the sunset!”

Aoi fell silent at where he stood. He looked at Reita who walked pass through him and stopped right in front of him. “Beach?” Aoi asked.

“Yeah,” Reita said as he patted Aoi’s head. “You don’t have any phobia for water, right?” Reita asked suspiciously.

“No… of course not…” Aoi shook his head. When he looked at the other two, he saw Saga walked approaching Uruha and put two boxes of fireworks on the beach sand. “I… I was just… I didn’t expect that we’re going to the beach…”

“Hey!” Uruha shouted. “What are you two doing there!? Come here!” Uruha was waving his hand to Reita and Aoi.

Reita looked at Aoi and stretched out his hand. “Come on…” Reita smiled.

Aoi received the hand and let Reita took him to where Saga and Uruha stood. That time, Saga was lighting a match and juxtapose it to a stick in Uruha’s hand. Aoi was surprised what the stick burned and splashed a fireworks.

“Yay-yay!” Uruha shouted cheerfully. Again, he looked at Reita and Aoi. “Come on! Light yours!”

Reita and Aoi exchanged look. There, inside Aoi’s eyes, Reita could see a hesitation lingered. Reita then took the initiatives to take two of the fireworks stick. Reita gave one of them to Aoi.

“Uruha!” Reita called as he showed the firework stick in his hand. Uruha lit his match and use it to light the firework stick in Reita’s hand. He lit the one in Aoi’s hand too.

“Hwaa!” Reita shouted. “Hot, hot!”

Uruha and Saga laughed at Reita. “Don’t hold it too close to the spark."

“Hey, hey, look! This one really looks like a fountain!” Saga shouted as he looked to the big firework that they put on the sand. The spark was gushing upward and spread around.

“Aoi! Don’t get too far! Come here!” Reita pulled Aoi to come near to him.

“Ah, watch out!” Aoi yelled as he kept the firework stick in his hand away from Reita.

“Hahaha! You should let the spark hit Reita a bit, Aoi!” Uruha said. Saga was just laughing beside him.

“Hey! I’ll get you for that!” Reita shouted as he chased Uruha with the firework stick in his hand.

“Don’t get too close!” Uruha said as he pointed his own firework stick toward Reita.

“Hey, you cheated!” Reita exclaimed. Saga and Uruha just laughed.

“Come on! Let’s play!” Uruha said again. “OK! Now, each of us has to write one word with the light from each of our firework, and the other has to answer it quick!”

“Eh!? What kind of game is that!?” Reita protested.

“I’ll go first!” Uruha said without paying any attention to Reita’s protest. Uruha then pointed his firework stick to the air and moved it, making some writing. “Guess it!”

“Repeat it! I couldn’t read it!” Reita protested again.

“Flower!” Saga guessed.

“Correct! OK, now it’s Saga’s turn!” Uruha said giggling.

“OK, try to guess this one!” Saga said as he wrote something in the air with his firework stick. “There! Guess it!”

“It’s… an… egg?” Aoi guessed it this time.

“Correct!” Saga said with a wide grin on his face.

“That’s a pretty weird word choice…” Uruha commented.

Saga just laughed. “Anyway, it’s Aoi’s turn now!” Saga exclaimed.

“Eh..? Mm…” Aoi hesitated.

“Never mind, Aoi! Just write anything you had in mind!” Saga said.

Aoi was still looked hesitate when he nodded. He then moved his firework stick and started to write in the air. “There…” Aoi said slowly.

“Smile!” Reita guessed.

Aoi smiled. “Yes, that’s right...”

“Heee! I didn’t even know that Reita could actually read!” Uruha said.

“Shut up! Now it’s my turn!” Reita said as he started to write with his firework stick. “Come on! Guess it!” Reita said with the cheerful smile on his face.

Saga and Uruha exchanged glances. They chuckled. “No!” Uruha said. “I can’t answer that!”

“I can’t read Reita’s writing! It’s too vague!” Saga said when he laughed.

Reita then looked toward Aoi and smiled. “It’s just you now. Answer it,” Reita said.

“Eh..? B-but… that’s…”

“Come on, Aoi! Just answer it!” Saga said.

Aoi looked at Reita. “It’s… A… o… i..?” Aoi answered. “You… wrote… my name..?”

Reita smiled. Yes, Reita wrote Aoi’s name. When Reita nodded, it made Aoi fell silent. Aoi remembered when Uruha said to him when Reita didn’t come to the campus that day.

“In his head, there’s only you, your business with your lover, and what your lover did to you… he was always thinking about you…”
Aoi looked at Reita. Reita reciprocated Aoi’s gaze. Reita was surprised when he saw something fell on Aoi’s cheek. But Reita couldn’t see it clearly because the spark from the fountain firework in the centre suddenly splattered to his direction and shocked him. Uruha and Saga just laughed when they saw it. Meanwhile, Aoi still couldn’t say anything.

*

Reita looked at his right. About two metres away from him, Uruha and Saga sat adjoin. They leaned back to each other. Saga put his head on Uruha’s shoulder, and Uruha put his head on Saga’s head. They were already fallen asleep. After eating all of their instant dinner meals, and after passing through many excitements, Uruha and Saga had fallen asleep earlier. But considering it’s already almost three in the morning, it’s natural if they were already asleep at that moment. Yes, they intended to spend the night at the beach and would go back home after the sun rise in the morning. Reita smiled when he saw his two friends.

Reita then diverted his gaze to his left, where Aoi sat. Aoi hugged both of his knees that bended in front of his chest. His gaze directed to the dark sea in front of them. Aoi was surprised when Reita suddenly stroked his hair. Aoi looked toward Reita who smiled at him. Without the bonfire, Aoi won’t be able to see the smile.

“You can’t sleep?” Reita asked. He lowered his hand from Aoi’s hair and used it to support his body weight on the sand. Reita straightened his legs and put his right leg on his left one.

“I’m not sleepy yet…” Aoi said.

Reita chuckled. “Yeah. You’re not like Uruha and Saga who let loose too much energy just for laughing.”

“You laughed a lot too…” Aoi said as he looked to Reita. “Aren’t you sleepy yet?”

“I can’t sleep if you’re still awake…”

“Why’s that?”

“If you’re still awake, it means something is still bothering you…”

Aoi fell silent. He stared at Reita’s eyes deeply. “Then… why do you care so much about that, Reita?”

Reita smiled. He heard that kind of question for far too often, it wasn’t a surprise anymore to him. Reita then searched for something from his jacket’s pocket. “Rather than asking about that…” Reita took a card from his pocket and gave it to Aoi. “It’s your member card.” Reita smiled. “Now you can borrow two books in a time at Sumire.”

“Oh..?” Aoi observed the card on his hand. He tottaly forgot about that. “Thank you very much for this…”

“Oh, and another one…” Reita said as he took something from his pocket. This time, it’s a glistened-chain-look item. “It… will be… better… if you… wear… this…” Reita said as he stood and moved a little to Aoi’s back. Reita put the glistened item around Aoi’s neck.

“Wh… what’s this..?” Aoi asked as he touched the small-chain-like item around his neck.

Reita didn’t answer it. He just hooked the knot behind Aoi’s neck. After that, Reita returned to his previous place and sat back there. He looked at Aoi and smiled. “Now, it has complete pair of wings…”

Aoi was surprised when he heard it. He looked at the pendant in front of his neck. It had wings now. Not only one, but pair of it. Aoi looked at Reita disbelievingly.

“I’m sorry…” Reita said. “I didn’t expect that you would go to the campus that day. Uruha said that I went to Kanagawa, right? It’s just my own subterfuge to made Uruha not questioned me about anything,” Reita explained. “I didn’t go to Kanagawa, Aoi. I didn’t go to campus that day because I was searching for that necklace…”

“Reita… you…” That time, Aoi was the one who didn’t expect that Reita would do such a thing. He didn’t expect that Reita would actually give him a new necklace.

“Now, no one will break the wings…”

Aoi hung his head low. He held the pendant. Reita already did too many things for him. It was already exceeded Aoi’s own comprehension limit. It made Aoi really wanted to know what made Reita wanted to do until that extent. “Why did you do all of these, Reita?”

“I just don’t want you to be sad again, Aoi…”

“That’s all?”

Reita sighed before he answered. “That’s all…”

Aoi hung his head even lower. He then shifted a little to Reita, lessen the distance between them. Reita was surprised when he felt Aoi put his head on his shoulder.

“I’m so… sorry…” Aoi said. “Please… let me… like this… for a while…”

Reita fell silent. There’s something that weigh on his mind. Almost whispering, Reita said, “Don’t…”

It shocked Aoi. Even though the voice was heard in a slow rhythm, but Aoi could still hear it. That was the first time Reita rejected him. Previously, Reita never acted that cold to Aoi. Aoi found the possibility about what Uruha said back then. Aoi already missed many of Reita’s kindness. He already let Reita’s entire attention went by offhanded right after he left Reita’s apartment that day. Aoi was already way too late to realize all of the sumpathy. And there, Aoi didn’t have the rights to ask for it all back again.

“Don’t… not like that…” Reita continued. “You’ll hurt yourself that way…”

“Eh?”

Reita lessened the remaining distance between him and Aoi. After that, their bodies were clinging to each other. Reita then put his arm around Aoi’s shoulders, and slowly, he pushed Aoi’s head and let it leaned on his own shoulder. Reita could feel Aoi’s hair touched his neck. Reita didn’t realize it that what did he do to Aoi made the black haired Beautiful Being fell in to another silence.

“Feel much better now?” Reita asked.

Aoi couldn’t answer the question. He didn’t expect it at all that Reita would actually give much more, better than he ever hoped. Aoi closed his eyes. He suddenly could hardly breathe and his tear flowed again. Aoi let all his emotions loose with his tears. His sobs made him could barely breathe.

“Who allowed you to cry?” Reita asked. Aoi just shook his head in Reita’s embrace. “If there’s no one allowed you to cry, then stop… ‘cause I hate to see you like this…”

“But why..? Why, Reita..?” Aoi asked with voice just beyond whispering.

“I’ve already told you earlier, right? I just don’t want to see you sad anymore. The smile suits you best, Aoi. You’re beautiful without those tears…”

“There’s nothing that could actually made me smile… I don’t have my source of happiness, Reita… I don’t have that…”

Reita leaned his head on Aoi’s head. “Idiot…” Reita said in a low voice. “If you want to, you can have it, Aoi… if you want to, whatever you want, as long it can make you smile, I’ll give it to you… I’ll do it for you…”

“Will you?”

Reita looked into Aoi’s eyes. “Now you ask it…” Reita smiled. “Yes… I will, Aoi… I will…”
