History: Kei Aihara’s father died before she was born. Her mother, Shiori, tried her best to support her family but after so long she could not. At the age of seven Kei and Shiori were homeless. Shiori sacrificed her comfort to keep Kei warm at nights. Once they went homeless Shiori had a harder time finding a job. People didn’t want someone who had been living on the street. They wandered across many towns to find a job. About a year and a half went by and Shoiri manages to get a job working at a book store in the town of (Insert name of town here). Mr. Kenshin Takagi, the owner of the store, took one look at Kei’s eyes and couldn’t turn her away. Kenshin also offered them to stay in the apartment on the second floor, it was the least he could do. Finally Kei and Shiori’s luck started to change. Kei also started to work at the bookstore organizing the books or helping Kenshin with attending to customers. Kei at a young age took a lot of responsibility. Her lack of friends made Kei passion for stories to grow. Late nights were spent reading the books of adventure and heroism, love and despair. By the time Kei was nine she wanted to go to public school. Shiori didn’t refuse since they were decently living now. Although Kei started school a lot later than most she got promoted to the 3rd grade because of the knowledge both Shiori and Kenshin taught her.
Appearance: Really pretty yet sorrowful eyes. Her hands are rough and coarse from the year of being homeless and then sorting and cleaning of many books. Her face however remained youthful. Her long hair created a light curl as she got older something that Shiori said was given by her father. Kei often kept her hair down she only pulled it up while at basketball practice or a basketball game. She stood at 5’ 4’’ which I guess is quite average for girls. She was quite skinny since she was so used to eating so little on a daily basis and weight currently now is at 114 pounds. Her style is very unique. Since she got used to being homeless for a year she wears a lot of mismatch things. Not that it makes her ugly she just has an interesting take on fashion…but there is always that wacky what the hell is she wearing day. She always has on a metal charm bracelet around her wrist every since she was young. Shiori gave it to Kei to hold on to. Shiori stated it came from an old friend.

Personality: Kei is a very friendly individual and Shiori always raised her to be that way. Since Kei never really got to know anyone for too long, except her mother, she remained very shy. Kei only recently lost some of her shyness once she joined the basketball team. Ryo and Taro really help by being such nice people. She is on her way to becoming one of the guys. Because of those two Kei became more comfortable with herself she even started to try new things. Although Kei is shy once she truly believed something with all her heart she sticks up for it and is unbendable in her conquest. This outspoken behavior has gotten Kei some detentions in her school years and was given to her by her mother…that and her stubbornness.

Shiori Aihara - Mother: Shiori has taught everything that Kei knows. From her knowledge to her personality. Shiori raises Kei to be a good daughter and to be true to who she is. Shiori sacrificed everything to make Kei life not so bad. Shiori is a rebel at heart but because her daughter comes first she stays out of the governments radar. She strong, driven, loving mother who only wants the best for her child.
Keita Aihara - Father: Kei was named after her father Keita. Keita died before Kei was born so she had never met him. From the stories Shiori always tells about him he was a wonderful man. Keita was very funny and outgoing and was a star member of the basketball team before he died. Keita was kind of hot tempered and got in a lot of fights so he often worried Shiori when they were going out. Shiori doesn’t like to talk about his demise she just leaves it at ‘the wrong place at the wrong time’.
Kenshin Takagi - Bookstore Owner: Kenshin is a kind old man who took in Shiori and Kei off the street. Even though he was sweet in hospitality he was extremely strict when it came to books. “Each book has its own story and each one should be treasured in its own way. Don’t mistreat a book the way you mistreat a human being.” He always says as Kei is cleaning and organized books. Other then the weird obsession with books he was quite normal. Because of his old age he gave out an array of smells each one as unpleasant as the last. He was the closest thing to a father figure Kei had seen in her lifetime.

Classroom Behavior: In the class room Kei is usually the quietest in the class. She tends to read the textbook as the class is taking place. She learns more from the book anyway. Japanese is the only subject (other than playing basketball) that Kei talks a little bit more. Its her most comfortable subject to talk about plus Ryo Jo sat next to her making her even more comfortable.

Fuuka Kuroki - Fuuka and Kei became friends after Kei stuck up for Fuuka as a bully was bulling her. Every since then they have been very good friend. It was only until Kei joined the basketball team this year that Kei and Fuuka started to grow distant. They still talk every so often.
