Cell tower, blah blah blah.

So the city or Verizon or both or whatever wants to put in a cell phone tower nearby. I don't generally care about these things. As long as they're not tearing down our house to do it - and they're not - you know, blah.

What I do care about are my extremely annoying neighbors who have taken to knocking on doors and completely covering every side of every telephone pole possible to try and further GALVANIZE the community to STOP THE CELL TOWER.

Just when I thought that I could pretend that I didn't live in Bellingham's crap version of the suburbs, along comes a prissy "grassroots" "not in our backyard" movement. "Put it somewhere, but not where we can see it," the neighborhood shouts, shaking its collective fist.

Ruin the view? The view of what? I live in the tallest building on the block and all I can see is my neighbor's yard and the weeds in our alley. Bleh. Well, they need to protest something, I guess. This is Bellingham, after all. Hell, this is probably the least scenic part of Bellingham. It's a webbed mess of dirty, filthy alleys, weed-filled yards, and old housing. I'd say if you're going to put it anywhere, this is probably one of the best spots.

For added hilarity: conspiracy theories! Just add 'hamsters!

*shakes cane* You kids get off of my lawn!
