So another week down in Iraq
Work is really starting to pick up, I'm spearheading some major but tedious projects like completely rewiring more buildings and organizing the cable so it actually makes sense. I'm going to find and strangle the people who originally wired this place, they couldn't even stick with one standard or scheme for anything so its awful. Half the work is figuring out what the last people did so I can fix it.
The people I work with are interesting, at least most of them. My master sergeant is kind of a dick most of the time, then when I make up my mind on whether I hate him or not all of a sudden he calms down and I can stand him again and almost like him. Fucker.
The major is apparently from New Jersey though, though he grew up in north jersey apparently in some ghetto ass part just south of New York. Oh randomly yesterday the Major started asking about the extra network switches and laptops we have in storage, and said we are going to set up a morale network for the weekend to play like starcraft and command and conquer and shit. Hells yes
The mortars are really my only reminder that I'm actually in a war zone, besides that its not much different than my home station. The chow hall food is pretty good, but everything tastes different than it does in America, and I dunno exactly why. The gym's are good as hell too, I've been running a lot and lifting weights. I ran for 15 minutes on a treadmill then still had the energy to run another 1.5 miles to the rec center, eating right and drinking water makes a HUGE difference in your run. I forgot how much it matters.
I'm such a hardware dork its awful. I'm buying a new laptop when I get back, for gaming when I'm on vacation or if I deploy again so I'm trying to buy a good one. But I keep getting all giddy at all the cool shit I could put in it, like dual graphics cards and shit I know I don't need. I'm definatly getting an alienware laptop though, nobody I found online has as much bang for the money as they do, even at the midrange of 1000-1500. Hopefully by the time I get back some of the pieces get a bit cheaper so I can get the next highest laptop or at least save money. I want to build one that'll last several years really, which shouldn't be hard since I doubt I'll need to play something more intensive than DoW and CoH on vacation anyway.
I think I'm gonna get a water-cooling system for my PC too if I can, my room temperature is too high usually for my PC, and then I can play around with Overclocking and shit.
I'm such a damn dork :/
