Europix part 3

LONDON

London was wonderful. It sucks that it's virtually impossible to get there with the Eurail system, but it was definitely worth the extra money. We got to do a lot of things that I wanted to do which was good for a change (Phantom of the Opera, London Dungeon). Also by the time we got there the heatwave was dying down and it's farther north so it wasn't hot, which was amazing. London has the best public transportation, hands down. The tube is so convenient and pleasant to use. Our hostel was pretty cool, although we were on the 5th floor and there were no elevators. The only drawback is that it's a very expensive city to stay in.

Don't say I didn't warn you :(

I took a picture of this last year too- but it pleases me immensely

Asians on a lion at Trafalgar square!

Big Ben and Parliament

Saint Something-or-other's

The pubs all had cool names...the Iron Horse was painted bright red!

BRUSSELS

I have embarrassingly few pictures from Brussels. Like...two. It was a really nice city though. We didn't do much during the day- I needed to shower like CRAZY and I was a bit under the weather. During the day we went to a movie theater and saw Pirates of the Caribbean...with dutch subtitles! because we couldn't check into our hostel yet. Which was amazing, by the way. We got complimentary shampoo and conditioner and our room was soo clean and we had our own bathroom which was also wonderfully clean. Or maybe the place just seemed so good after the dirty place in London. Anyway, that night we ate dinner at a pretty authentic belgian place, i guess, and then we went walking around the shops. I got really drunk by the end of the night but stupid Brussels doesn't have regular payphones so I couldn't call Leo. I emailed him instead and then went to sleep in my gorgeous soft clean bed.

AMSTERDAM

Once again, only a couple of pictures. I was sort of losing interest at this point. Not in the trip but in the taking pictures part. Also this was only a couple days before I would see Leo so I had more important things on my mind. It was raining when we got there and the train station was FULL of backpackers. Amsterdam is a very popular spot for them, can you guess why? Anyway it took us awhile to find our boat hostel and when we got there it was TINY. Like, we had trouble fitting everything in there. It was crazy. The first night we were there...my ATM card wasn't working at that point so we looked for an ATM for awhile but I just ended up using my last travelers check. We ate at a chinese place for some reason then walked around and looked at some shops, but then it started raining again so we ducked into a movie theater. When we came out it was still raining. I got some pommes frites and they got rained on as we made our way back to the tiny boat hostel.
The next day we got up fairly early to go to the Rijksmuseum:

It was pretty interesting, I actually enjoyed it. Plus I got my Nijntje shirt, which looks somewhat like this-

Then we went to the Van Gogh museum and by that time I was kind of tired of art. Later, after checking into our new hostel (which was full of stoners) we went to another museum. And I didn't want to spend 14 euros on more art so I sat outside. That night was awesome. We walked around for awhile then we went to a coffeeshop where my brother smoked a joint. I probably should have but oh well. Then we went to Boom Chicago where we got seats right in front of the stage, which proved useful because I eneded up getting two free beers! The walk home was fun. I think I called some people that night.

Amsterdam was awesome. In conclusion:
