came back from my whirlwind trip - watched two movies along the way.
Movie 1 - the "gangster" movie by Jack Neo.
verdict - I find the movie's too crude and reminds me of other films in many parts of the scene. The Fann Wong character reminds me of the Stephen Fung's character in the gay gangster movie starring Eason Chan and Daniel Wu - but her acting's very 1 dimensional - just a blank expressionless expression throughout. And the durian soccer scene - so Shaolin soccer. Looks like the Jack Neo can only do kids related movies ...
Movie 2 - CJ7 by Stephen Chow
verdict - on the whole, i think Stephen's trying to get away from his usual slapsticks but he tried a little too hard. In the end, find that the movie does not really bring one into the movie ... doesn't make one feel for the story / characters. But kudos to the little girl who acted very well - especially the scene when she was crying her heart out when she found out her father died.
Anyway, this trip was very smooth - was actually worried that Shanghai and Guangzhou would be raining / flooding. Luckily in Shanghai was just drizzling and in Guangzhou was bright sunshine. In fact in Guangzhou, the hotel that I was staying - Garden Hotel - they upgraded me to a suite ... very nice and comfy ...
here's some pics -
so that's all for now - till my next trip to Kuala Lumpur next month. will be staying at the Westin ...
