So, here are my answers!
Top Five Fics (In no particular order)
I'm going for in the TGWTG fandom for this, because honestly, I've read way too much fic over the years to narrow it down to five. :) This is going to be hard enough as it is...
1.
Smile, by
nochi_san . This fic directly inspired my first work of TGWTG fic ever. :) I love Spoony's characterisation in this, I love Linkara's walk of shame, and most of all, I love the mental image of Spoony baking cookies. :D I know, I'm odd.
2.
Todd/Critic anon fill. I, in a moment of madness, asked for this pairing, and some kind stranger filled it beyond my wildest dreams!
3.
Spoonette fighting ATC anon fill. Again, my prompt, and LORD, did you deliver, anon! It was cracky and in character and gorgeous, and Spoonette is basically my hero now for this.
4.
When Zombies Attack: A Dark Comedy in Three Acts, by
bubosquared . One of the first things I read, and I still love the premise, the usage of 4chan to call survivors to them, the people lost and found, and the ending. :)
5.
Collared!Film Brain/Cinema Snob anon fill. This fic is both relevant to my interests and absolutely gorgeous! Plus, I felt bad having most of these be Spoony-related. XD Honestly, I have other favourites, I promise.
Top Five Guilty Crushes
Well, I don't really have crushes, let alone guilty ones, so I could maybe rave about people I think are awesome?
1. This is Maka Albarn.
She is a Scythe Meister at Shibusen, from the Soul Eater anime and manga. I haven't read the manga, but I have seen the anime, and she is TOTALLY AWESOME.
Exhibit A:
Maka is the hero, y'all. She's the heroine of a freakin' shonen anime! And her weapon is pretty too. (His name is Soul. He's cool.)
Exhibit B:
Maka is not afraid to go utterly batshit insane if she has to. In this canon madness is the ultimate evil, a betrayal against everything she stands for and her worst nightmare all in one. Does Maka avoid it for fear she will be consumed? FUCK NO. That pansy-ass madness better think twice, because Maka Mother Fucking Albarn is in town, and it's her bitch now.
Exhibit C:
Maka reads books, and if you muck around she will hit you with one. A girl after my own heart. XD (Coincidently, that book she's holding? Is GanGan, the monthly magazine Soul Eater is published in. That's right, Maka is so awesome she can bend time and space to read her own adventures as they happen.)
2. Sokka, from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
This is Sokka.
Hi, Sokka! Now, Sokka lives in a world where people can control the elements at their will. His sister controls water. The bad guys control fire. His friend can control earth. His other friend? Yeah, both the last airbender in existence AND the fabled Avatar, master of all four elements. Now, these are pretty awesome people. What magical abilities does Sokka have, to measure up to these veritable gods?
Uhh, he has a boomerang?
True, Sokka has no powers, but he is smart, brave, cunning and true, and also hilariously funny. :D He's the heart of the team, keeping their chins up when the weight of their task brings them down. In 3x04, Sokka goes away to train and the Gaang literally falls into lazing about without them. He's the Meat and Sarcasm Guy, the ideas guy, the Badass Normal in this crew of superpowered warriors. And he stands on equal ground with them. He's not as powerful, sure, but his sharp wit, tactical knowledge and quick tongue help him compensate. He's also a complete dork:
3. Tim Drake, from the Batclan comics.
Yeah, Dick came first, but Tim holds the keys to my heart. He's just so serious!
Oh, Timmy.
Tim is serious, as I have said, but he's also loyal, analytic, and deeply sarcastic. He hides in trees to check on his loved ones and figured out Batman's identity when he was 9. YEARS. OLD. The guy's a frakking genius. All the shit he's been through in recent years (and what is up with that, seriously, DC) just makes me want to give him a massive hug.
4. This, ladies and gentlemen, is Kara Thrace.
Kara "Starbuck" Thrace is a Viper pilot on the Battlestar Galactica. She is a crack shot, an avid gambler, and in her own words "a fuckup." I love her anyway.
She is in some ways the hero of the series, though Battlestar Galactica is really an ensemble piece. She has a destiny, and the universe is determined to make sure she knows it.
Here, have Starbuck being a pimp:
Look at this hardcore bitch, you know she could out-smoke, out-drink and out-play you any day of the week. Now sit your punkass DOWN.
Also, Kara the GQMF:
This is the body I wish I had. She's in the frakking military people, this woman is hardcore.
Despite the more stereotypical badass I have protrayed her as, Kara is also a very complex, damaged human being. She's convinced she is to blame for all her relationships going down the tube, she's haunted by the physical and emotional abuse her mother put her through and she's utterly, utterly terrified of becoming a mother herself, because she doesn't want to continue the cycle. One of the scariest moments in BSG for me is when the Cylons capture her and try to turn her into a brood mare for their own purposes. This strong, determined, military-trained woman is utterly traumatised at the sight of what she sees in there, what almost happens to her. We know it's horrifying because Starbuck is scared.
I also find it interesting how Starbuck was a man in the original series. They changed the gender for the remake, but by some accounts her character was left mostly intact. It's interesting to see how that plays out, as she IS a woman, but with many traditionally male aspects.
5. Finally, I give you the guy who made me change my mind about an entire series in five minutes of airtime:
I'm not kidding, this guy singlehandedly made me re-evaluate my opinion of Doctor Who, based purely on the Children in Need special, straight after he regenerated. That, my friends, is why this guy is on my crush list.
Top Ten Film Brain Reviews
Hopefully this will be easier. :)
1.
The Haunted Mansion review, with Braeden Orr. I like this because it really is a terrible film, and gives them lots of material to work with. And it introduced me to Braeden. :D
2.
The Spirit review, with Linkara. I really like reviews where he teams up with someone, it gives him someone to bounce off of, and these two work well together.
Aaaaaaand, now I'm stuck. XD Ah well!
3.
The Wolverine review. I liked the film, daft as it was, and that helped me appreciate this more.
4.
The Ugly truth review. I hated this film just on general principle when it came out, so it was nice to see it was justified. :)
5.
The Bride Wars review. Because Anne Hathaway is awesome, even if she keeps picking bad roles, dammit.
Wooh, that was a lot. D:
